SOURCE: message PLEASE TURN CAMERA OFF THEN ON AGAIN

Sometimes this message appears when force has been applied to the lens. Here are some things to try. Go into the setup menu and find "reset" to reset the camera. If that doesn't work, remove the card and battery...press all the buttons...insert the card and then the battery. You may have a lens problem that can only be repaired at a service facility.

SOURCE: When in a record mode LCD says to

You are experiencing a media miscommunication. This due to low or incorrect amount of voltage to the cameras coding circuits.Take a Q-Tip "dampened" with rubbing alcohol and clean inside the battery compartment well. Do the battery contacts and the charger the same way. You should be all set after this. Dana

My sandisk memory stick pro duo wont work anymore

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC T70 and it keeps saying "Reinsert memory stick" whenever I turn on the camera or slide down the camera lid. Also, whenever I try to view the pictures on my laptop it shows "Please reinsert the memory stick" something along those lines. As I have been researching for the solution, I would have to format the memory card. However, I wouldn't want to lose the pictures as I just took many as from the holiday last week. The only problem is the memory card, I tried using another memory card and it works fine with the camera. There is nothing wrong with the camera.\r\nCan someone please help me how to solve the memory stick problem? It would be great. Ty.

Whenever i want to take a picture the screen reamins black

A stuck shutter is a common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).

To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see the following for further info and a simple fix that may help:

Lens is stuck and wont move. on the screen it states "Turn the power off and on again" help pls? Was working just fine and then started with the lens not opening...I opened manuelly and now it wont't take...

I agree that the camera needs to be sent back when this happens.  I have seen people suggest pulling on the lens (a bad idea) and smacking the camera / rapping it upon something (an even worse idea).  Not only will these options often fail to work, they will damage your camera further and void your warranty (leaving you stuck with a broken camera).  If you find a fault in this (or any) camera, DO NOT HESITATE to either send it back or demand a refund in full.  The lens sticking IS A FAULT IN THE CAMERA, not something the consumer should have to fix on their own.

Also, for the record, if Solution #1 (posted by "geragodina") is really a copy/paste of a LiveAssist Chat, please be aware that "Patrick" was not an actual person, it was an AI chatbot (if you need proof, try visiting jabberwacky[dot]com).  I have been writing AIML for various chatbots for years, and am amazed that this site charges for "Live" Assist Chat when they are using scripted chatbots.  Save your money and ask real people.  Remember, chatbots are only as smart as the people who program them.

Off and on problem with a Sony Cybershot DSC-W35

you have to open the cage of the camara gently & the put the betteries, then if you are catching the cam. from the screen side, you can see on the left side the wheel of the lences, in the same moment you are turning the cam, move that wheel with a little knife or anything you have, it will work.

I get a buzzing sound

Hello Rrosario35, This problem is related to the lens assembly. The camera will check if these work properly when it's being powered on. If something goes rong here it will turn off or display you some error messages. This problem occures when some of the lens mechanisms get out of place and jamms or damages other components. As the lens assembly is a very delicate mechanism I would suggest you to go back to the service center that fixed it the first time and ask them to check it. Don't try to power the camera on anymore because the lens assembly could be damaged further or beyound repair if the servo-motors are trying to alling the lens something jamms them and not allowing them to move properly. This will force the servo-motors and they could damage other components or themselves. It could be fixed, but don't force the camera to work anymore for the time being. Please post back if more informations are required.
