Hi jimcog,

I'm Harvey the Mster Plumber.

The only info you give is: door spring

Access to the door springs can only be obtained by removing the d/w about six inches. Sometimes you'll find it just poped off and other times you'll have to replace a broken plastic connector. Don't forget to turn off and disconnect the water first. I don't recomend this to the average homeowner. You might consider the Repair Directory for a repairman.

Door closes but stop in close position (jamm}

Has the spring at the top broken or come unwound? The spring helps pull the door open and the unit will not work unless the spring is working. Pull the cord and unlock the door from the opener and try to push it up by hand. If it is hard to push then you know the spring is not working. if its an older door the springs could be on the sides.

How do I fix or replace the door spring in a Miele G6892 dishwasher?

Step 1: Get Access to the Door Spring Remove the lower panel under the door. Normally, two screws keep the panel in place. These screws are located on top of or below the panel. There are cases wherein you have to initially open the dishwasher door to be able to remove the screws. The door should then be closed in order to remove the panel.
Step 2: Remove Springs To remove the springs, the hook of the spring should be lifted from the anchor point. Use your fingers to do so. If there is a large amount of tension, it's best to use a screwdriver or pliars. Position the shaft under the hook and then pull it down. After pulling down, try lifting the anchor. To make things easier, try locating a leverage point. This should help the screwdriver force the spring out. Be certain to remove the spring from all of its anchor points.
Step 3: Installation of New Springs To install a new spring, you initially have to deal with the positioning of the lower spring hook. It should be placed within the first hole. Take note of the adjustment bracket when doing this. Follow the previous set up. If the spring needs more tension, try positioning the spring hook further towards the back of the adjustment bracket. The end of the spring for the counter balance of the door should be mounted on the door support. Find the slot on the support. Replace all covers and door panels. Test the door to check for any problems.

How do I replace a broken door spring?

You can call a local garage door repair shop to get replacements. They should have springs that will work with your garage door depending on if the door is for a single-car or double-car garage, or if the door is made out of wood versus steel. Usually both of your springs will have to be replaced for safety reasons. You should not replace the spring yourself unless you are a trained professional with the proper equipment because the springs are very dangerous and cause serious injury.

Door springs

If the door won't stay shut the issue is with the door catch not the door springs, But if you want to know where the door springs are you need to remove the outer cabinet of the dishwasher and you will see them on the lower sides.

Garage door does not open. goes up about 4 inches. disconnected from opener and still can't open. checked wheels in frame move by hand. opener works when not attached to door.

You probably have a broken torsion spring. If you have a spring on a shaft above the door (usually 2 if it is a double door) then you have a torsion spring. From this shaft you have a 2 cables wound on a drum going down to the bottom of the door. If it is a single door, then this cable will be loose. If you have a double door, then most likely one spring is broken. This allows the door to open slightly, until one side is trying to lift(good spring) and the other side cannot (broken spring) Unless you are an EXTREMELY CONFIDENT DIYer then you should leave this do a door repairman as winding a torsion spring is dangerous, and can break bones or even kill. Now if your door has extension springs on each side of the track,with a pully and cable, then these can easily be replaced yourself. Check that cables are connected to the springs and the door and that one didn't break or come loose or cable off pully and binding.

My garage door opener only opens the door 2 feet high and stops, what could be the problem?

You could have a broken door spring or the drive gear is going bad. You need to remove the cover to check the gear. It is white nylon and is just in front of the motor. You can also increase the 'up force' which is a control on the rear of the motor unit.
