How can I restore to the factory setings an emachines t3512 computer with out a recovery cd.

U cannot do so. To restore much of lost speed you need to remove items from your startup menu and completely disengage/uninstall any and all anti virus programs that you are running. kill windows defender and firewall along with auto updates. Then type msconfig in run box, hit enter, select startup, and remove all checkmarks. Reboot and voila, la differance!

I have lost my instruction booklet and it has been almost 1.5 years since I have used the notebook. I cannot get it to turn off. It keeps saying Windows is Shuting Down; however, it is still on. Can...

Hi There,

Simply hold down the power button until the notebook shuts down. Then, restart the notebook and it may just boot up normally. If you're taken to a screen with options that include Startup Repair or Start Windows Normaly, try Normaly first. If it won't start, use Startup Repair the next time around.

When you leave a notebook off that long, Windows may have tried to install dozens of updates. You will need to patiently update Windows completely.

I have an HP Pavilion a6647c desktop computer, running Windows Vista. Only 1.5 years old (bought 3/2009). when we try to turn computer on, IF we get to Windows logon window, it will freeze right...

Hi There,

Your problem has likely only 3 sources.

1. Corrupt Boot Files in Vista
2. Virus
3. Hard Drive locking up.

PLease boot into Safe Mode, download Malwarebytes Free Edition malware remover, stay in Safe Mode and run it there.

If no viruses are found for you to remove, you nedd a Vista Program Disc. Boot from the Disc and use Repair.

If no luck there, return to Safe Mode and use Sytem Restoego back to the earielst point in time in the past when you remember you puter running correctly.

Failing in all these, you likely need a new hard drive and start fresh.

Remember,

DON"T SHOOT THE MESSENGER!

hi

you have lost or forget ten the XP administrator password, first reboot Windows XP in safe mode by re-starting the computer and pressing F8 repeated as the computer starts up. Then (in safe mode) click Start and then click Run. In the open box type "control userpasswords2" without the quotes. You will now have access to all the user accounts, including the administrators account and will be able to reset the lost password. Just click the administrators user account, and then click Reset Password. You will need to add a new password in the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and confirm by clicking OK. if it did not help let me know

Why is our dell pc starting up so slow

This could have a million possible soultions. Some general possibilities are a recent software or driver update, a recently installed program, a recenly installed piece of hardware, or some malicious software.

You could also have a drive error. If you are using windows, run the checkdisk utility.

Start>My Computer
Right click on C: drive and choose Properties
Tool Tab>Check Now
Enable both options and click Start
Answer Yes or Ok for any following dialog boxes
Reboot and let the utility run - this can take several hours
The computer will eventually return to Windows

You should do this for every hard drive, but only C: drive will require a reboot.

If it is still running slow, reply to this post and I'll offer some free software suggestions to clean up your computer, but please indicate your operating system, anti-virus, anti-spyware, and firewall software.

Hope this helps - Good luck!

Slow initial Start up ????

Your computer is trying to load a lot of programs on startup. Click Start --> Run, type msconfig. A window will appear, and on the Startup tab uncheck all startup programs and reboot. Then go back to msconfig and check the programs that you need.
