Clear greasy stains appearing on clothes from brand new LG front loading washer
My new LG Model WM2487HWMA front loading washer puts a clear grease-like stain on some of the clothes in each load. The stains appear in splotches and seem to show up more on darker colored cottons. I do not use fabric softener, and have cut way back on the amount of Tide HE I use (less than what the Tide reco's). I do a lot of laundry and may have used too much detergent when I first got the machine 3 months ago, but now I've cut back and the spots keep happening. They are sometimes hard to get out, but usually go away with Oxy Clean and re-washing. It has ruined some of my clothes already. Please help!

Normally a washer does not cause a staining problem, but If something inside the washer has rusted, it could. I would check your water tank. Drain water from the drain cock at the bottom of the tank, and see how dirty it is. If it is dirty, you need to drain the water until it is almost clear.
You have to clean the filter once a month. Which located lower left. Do a tub cleanse. Rinse extra. That will clear your problem. I have had the same issue and many repairmen and that was the answer. As long as I clean it than grease marks
I have an LG washer slightly different model but had the same problem. It washed the clothes but then the light would stay on but the washer would not turn back on. Remove door switch unplug wire that conects and check the connections. which requiered taking off the top and front of the washer. Mine were corroded after only 2 years. We cleaned the connection and it seems to be working fine again.
This could be a couple of things
1....oil from the transmission.
this is not common so lets leave this one
2.....the use of fabric softener causes greasy marks on clothing after a while
Fabric softener reacts with soap and can form a greasy jell. it can be yellow oily color or black.
You will know if you have been using fabric softener.
Stop using it straight away.
To clean oty the machine if it were mine I would put a packet of epson salts in with hot water and let the comp[lete cycly go.
Foe awhile use the machine with caution as this may release build up of grease which can stain further clothing until it is all gone.
The make and model of the washer is needed for an accurate diagnosis.
ftr loader washers do not have any oil, my guess would be you are using fabric softner . that can stain clothes. dilute with water, they are very concentraded. or your dispenser may not be working properly and not releasing softner at the proper time.i would run a clean cycle through it. meaning set on a hot wash- regular cycle no clothes and run wirth bleach in bleach disenser. do this every other month to keep washer clean hope this helps. make sure its not happening in the dryer , the dryer has frt and rear seals that go bad and start leaving marks on clothes and catching them in beteween the tub.
I have this problem on my front loading washer too, but only when washing white clothes. I have just read that perhaps the inlet hose is disintegrating from the hot water being too hot. The hose disintergration can cause black greasy stains on the clothes. I am going to check out the inlet hose when I get home. Hopefully this is the problem... I am sure a new inlet hose is a lot cheaper than a new transmission or new bearings. BTW, my washer in only 18 months old.
