The unit started making a new & different noise that sounded like water squirting inside. Since this began to happen, it won't clean properly & leaves food residue on dishes & in cups. It still makes that "different than usual" noise. This has been happening for about 2 weeks now. When the cycle is finished all the soap has been used like normal & changing brands of dishwasher detergent has no effect on the problem. It's a Maytag mdb3100awx.Thanks!
Sounds like the hose is clogged... i used to fix these.
first check to make sure the drain inside of the dishwasher (located on the bottom usually towards the back) does not have food clogging the drain. if there is nothing there than its more than likely a hose underneath the dishwasher. make sure you turn the water off before trying to fix this.

If the pump is running but noisy then that indicates a loose pump impeller (new pump I am afraid) if running (no noise) but failing to remove water, then I would be checking that drain hose is clear, or even that your machine is not syphoning water from waste disposal, a quick check would be to disconnect waste hose from waste disposal and see if it will then drain into a bucket, hope this is helpful.
It sounds like the detergent open solonoid is not activating, which could be the controls or just a bad solonoid. If it is under warranty just let the repair man know what is happening and let him do his thing and laugh as the manufacture pays the bills
Had a guy in six times on my dishwasher until it was out of warranty now I just fix it myself.
Thanks for using
FixYa. First of all please check the Water temperature by using a thermometer
inside the dishwasher to measure the water temp. It should be as close to 125
degree F to 140 degree F as possible. Now try using the temperature boost feature
if your dishwasher is equipped with this cycle feature and check if this will
help your wash ability issues.
Now check the
Powder soap by making sure that you store your soap in a dry environment and it
is not stale and clumping together. Possibly try a different detergent like a
liquid or gel. Also, make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is
To check the
proper filling dishwasher will fill with water up to and around the heating
element. If water is more below the heating element, you may have low water
pressure or a problem with the fill valve. Try & listen if it sounds like
it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.
For low water
pressure, try to clean the screen at the entrance of the fill valve, sometimes
the fill valve can fail and not allow the proper water into the dishwasher and
may need to be replaced. And, check the spray arm and pump cover for
splits or leaks. Also make sure that the water is draining and is
not accumulated in the dishwasher, if it is in dishwasher then check
for clogged drain hoses and drain pump.
Low water fills
are a very common trouble maker with today's dishwasher.

I had the same problem. The issue is due to the top rack water inlet not properly seating against the water line in the rear of the washer. I fixed it by placing heavier items (bowls, glass cups) on the rear of the rack and lighter items (plastic cups) near the front of the rack. As long as I arrange items on the top rack in this way the washer runs silently.
HI, there are three different reasons why this will occur in this type of unit. inspect these areas carefully.
1. Not enough water If there is not enough water, the dishes would not get cleaned. This could be caused by a partially closed water shut-off valve (located under the sink), or a faulty dishwasher water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side).
2.Clogged spay arms There is usually two, sometimes three spray arms in a dishwasher. Make sure there is no debris blocking the holes inside each spray arm.
3. Water temperature is too low To get the best results, the water has to be at 120 degrees Fahrenheit when entering the dishwasher. Make sure the temp is proper.
On the LG LDF6810 dishwasher, the best you can do is remove the bottom spray arm and then the 10 phillips screws that hold the filter down.
Pull the filter out and clean it as best you can.
Inspect the sump area beneath where the filter was. Be careful of broken glass and remove all debris. Use a flashlight and look into every little spot down there. Reassemble the dishwasher and operate your DW.
If you still have problems, I recommend a service call. Check your manual to confirm but most LG dishwashers have a 1 year parts & labor plus a 2 year parts only. Have your proof of purchase ready.
Well done by resolving this problem. The other way to avoid the siphoning problem through the drain hose is adding an air gap valve/connector (available at any hardware store). You can use it even if you don't have a garbage disposal in your kitchen sink. That will assure that you have the proper height of the drain hose.
Hope this helps!
