Washing machine drum won't turn under power

My LG washing machine, model wm2077cw, drum rotates freely when off and when not in a power situation but will not rotate under power. I have checked the wires to the motor sensor and all seem to be secure. What is my next move.

Is the washing machine went to its usual cycle? put water in?

if you think the motor should have run already, then it could be the motor or the motor inverter.
check the motor leads for equal resistance, if i'm right, you may have a three phase motro so the three leads that comes out should have equal resistance.

also, if you can monitor the voltage present in the motor leads while it is plug in and you are waiting for the motor to run, if there is voltage then there is a problem with the motor, if there is no voltage present, then the inverter unit would be the defective part.

My LG washing machine, Model# WM2077CW squeals a bit as the spinning comes to a stop. All other operations are fine. Is this model belt driven or am I looking at some other issue? Thanks.

direct drive. two other issues come to mind. one, your front door seal is malformed and touch drum someplace. two, your bearings and bearing seals are making the noise and starting to wear.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Contact the vendor!!! I assume it is still under some sort of guarantee/warantee? You can nulify any guarantee if you attempt to fix problem before contacting vendor.

If this has assisted and/or clarified the situation for you please consider a 4 thumbs up on our rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Change the Hall sensor, located on the motor windings (stator). Easy and cheap fix. (part is covered by a 10 year warranty) Take back cover off, remove bolt at center of rotor, remove rotor, remove bolts holding stator, unclip white Hall sensor from stator, replace sensor, reassemble. Done! That's a great machine.

I have a model WM2077CW LG washer. The LE error

LE indicates a fault with the motor on the appliance.

LG suggest you switch off, wait for a minute, unplug the appliance.

Wait 15 minutes then plug it back in again.

Try the machine again.

If it's still faulty, you can try changing the Hall Sensor in the motor, this can sometimes cure the problem.

Unplug the machine and remove the rear cover. There are 4 Philips head screws. Take them out and remove the rear cover.

You should now see the rear of the motor, which is mounted to the back of the drum.

In the middle is a large bolt which holds the stator cover.

You'll need a 17mm socket and a ratchet to remove this bolt.

Remove the stator cover and place aside.

Toward the bottom-left, you will see a couple of wire bunches held to the motor by three screws. One holds a metal bracket, one actually holds a ground wire, and the last is through a plastic bracket toward the bottom. Remove these three screws and don't lose them.

Through the motor there are 6 bolts holding it onto the back of the drum assembly.

You'll need a 10mm socket and ratchet to remove them.

You will now have the motor off the back of the drum.

Disconnect the two wire harnesses from the motor.

Looking at the surface of this motor that was facing the DRUM (not the outside), you'll see two small pieces clipped onto it, toward the bottom.

The sensor you are looking to replace is the one that looks like a kitchen magnet.

It is attached by small clips. You'll see how it goes on. It's easy to remove.

Go to google and search for part number 6501KW2002A.

This will bring up an LG sensor assembly.

Double check with the supplier that this is the sensor for your appliance.

When you receive the sensor, simply reverse steps 1 through 5.

Once re assembled, try the machine again.

If still the same after this you'll need to replace the motor and/or control board.
