Ekse, It's me again re:Lexmark x4690 not printing bottom page border. I forgot to tell you that when I try to print I get a pop-up box that sez my borders are outside the printable area. I print anyway and that's when the bottom border fails to print. I've tried changing margins and setting in the Page Borders dialog box. Does this change your diagnosis and prescription?

Thanx again,Ekse. I'll try reseting the defaults. I really appreciate your help and will recommend this site to my newbie friends

This can be resolve by updating the printer driver and also you can try first to uninstall and reinstall everything and after that try to do a test print so we can check if it will print fine with a test print so we'll know if this is alignment prolem....

Hope that helps.............

Its possibly a driver problem, try uninstalling the printer and then installing it again. It should correct any communication problems, you need to also unplug the printer after you have uninstalled it.

if you scan directly on the printer, does it print correctly?

ok, so clearly its a issue with the computer and the printer, most likely the driver / software on the pc. So remove all drivers and software from the pc related to the printer

start -> control panel -> add or remove programs -> find the lexmark drivers and other problems, remove them

after that you can get the new drivers from the lexmark pages

    www.lexmark.com

    see pictures

download and install the newest drivers, and connect the printer when asked. Things should work normally.

It does, try to restore the border settings to defaults? In microsoft word. my edges are all 2cm if I remember correctly.

would you like to troubleshoot this issue with remote support?

if your intrested open up this page and install the remote support program

    http://www.fastsupport.com/730896263

Simply follow the instructions and we can start up a remote support session, the session is open for about 2 hour, but I will only be available for a hour now.

Any idea why my lexmark won't print?

Try to print an alignment page or self test page to confirm the printing operation of the printer. If still nothing it may need a cleaning.

I have alignment issues with my lexmark x4690, the rollers thread the paper in at diff. times and causes a jam. how can I fix this?

Leading cause of paper jams and misfeeds is debris / foreign objects that accidentally fell into the paper feed area. Please try this approach to fix the problem:

  1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.
  2. Grab a flashlight and look inside the feeder for any debris or foreign objects.
  3. If you're willing and physically able, you may also carefully turn the printer over. Any debris should just freely roll out from the feeder.
  4. If feeder is clear, place the printer on the table. Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.
  5. Check the cartridge area for any obstructions in the paper path.
  6. Close the printer cover.
  7. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - the black box where the power cord is plugged into. Re-plug after 30 seconds.
  8. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and load some paper. Try to print again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Cant scan on my lexmark x4690 it does print

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB-connected). Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB-connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

I have a Lexmark x4690 and the printer keeps telling me I have an alignment problem. I say ok to doing the alignment but when the paper feeds through there is no ink on the page. Also, if I try to print...

The error could be due to the cartridges in the printer. Please follow steps below to identify and fix the problem:

1. Make sure the printer is on.

2. Open the printer cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.

3. Remove both cartridges from the carrier. Check the encoder strip (transparent strip behind the cartridge carrier) and make sure it is not unseated from its position.

4. Close the printer cover.

5. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power outlet to reset it.

6. When the printer turns on, check for any errors. If alignment error is displayed on the screen, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance. If no error appears, reinsert one cartridge first.

7. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.

8. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.

9. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear with a new cartridge. You can also try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if the other is faulty.

If problem continues, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.
