I had the same problem and finally solved it by downloading latest firmware and then re-formating. You lose all the uploaded songs, etc. that were on the player, but the battery holds charges just fine after this. Since all the music I wanted was already in windows media player, it took one quick sync to get it all back on the player.

If your Sansa player is freezing, not charging or not turning on, the first thing to try is a reset of the unit. This will normally clear any temporary condition that may cause the player to freeze or not shut off completely, it's a bit like when your PC crashes and you need to re-start it to clear the error.

Sansa will not charge, keeps saying connected, but wont charge. Also need a how to use manual.

Having gone over a month without a response, I assume this is no longer a problem.

I have a Sansa View 8gb and the battery would die like within like 3-5 hours but when I connect it to my computer and go to properties I found that it was charged 84% what should I do about it?

What you need to do is let your player die. Then after it is dead keep turning it off and turning it on till it stops responding. This will run the player out of all battery charge. Then you will keep turning it on so that you can deplete the battery charge that your player sets up as a backup power. Then you need to plug it into your computer and let it charge all night. This will reset the player battery memory so that you can have full charge again. If this does not work your battery might be going out and you should look into either replacing it or investing into another mp3 player.

It wont turn on!

If you were charging it with your USB cord, you have to keep the computer turned on the whole time it's charging, otherwise, it will be losing it's charge.

My 8 gb sansa

Does the charging sign show up? It could be a bad cable. Also make sure you have the right software You can get it here at: http://www.sandisk.com/sansa
Go to Support\product support\sansa view\ thenlook in the right column

Try it with different usb ports as well.
Go to Device Manager and look for "?'s" or "!'s"
