Generally, the graphics card on most portables is not a upgradable option. Researching on HP spare parts, that appears to be true on this system.

Can I install a secondary graphics card in Acer Z5801 all in one pc

Yes you can upgrade the Graphics Card on the Acer Z5801. There is an optional Graphics Card slot on the Motherboard and you will need an Acer Geforce GT 530 Graphics Card. They come in 1GB and 2GB but quite rare to find. Your best shot is an Acer Distributor. For more help have a look at the link below:

Nvidia made the MXM module for the Pavilion dv4000 series of Notebook PC's.
It is an Nvidia G73M-256

This is information about MXM upgrades,

Since Nvidia no longer directly supports the MXM platform, but does it through MXM-SIG, these guy's are the ones to ask IMHO.

Hi

It seems that you need to use the latest driver for the graphic card.

You can do that through visiting the manufacture's website, choose your laptop model, OS, look for video (vga) driver, and download it.
Please tell us your results
Good Luck

Motherboard or on-board graphics card failure

I had the same kind of stripes on my hp dv9000. I read in forum that it was a heat problem, that loosens the soldering on the GPU chip.. I wrapped it into a towel for approx 30-60 min.. That removed the stripes in bios screen..

Either they put in a bad mother board or damaged yor DVD drive. Maybe they even put in the wrong unit. In any case I'd send it back to them.

MS seems to have a theme going with updating drivers that cause problems. Try this . . .

Go to www.nvidia.com and download the latest driver package. You may need to run in Safe Mode with network or use a different computer.

Go into device manager and uninstall the graphics card.

Restart the computer. Cancel the installation of the new hardware when it comes up. Run the setup file that you downloaded from nVidia.

Restart the computer.

Good luck and please let me know how it turns out!
