Question about Toshiba Satellite A105 Notebook

1 Answer

No power I have a Toshiba A105-S4397. It was purchased new 15 months ago. I opened the computer and as I went to use it I noticed the battery was low. I plugged it into the AC adaptor and it appeared to be charging. I went back to it later and pushed the power button. It would not turn on. There are no indicator lights on at all. I purchased two of these computers and both did the same thing. Can you give me some idea of what is wrong with these?

In my searching for another problem, I read a lot of postings about Toshiba laptop computers and faulty power plugs (at the spot where you plug in your AC adapter into the computer). It seems to be some kind of universal problem with Toshiba and I think there was even a recall a while back because of this. I do not know if this is your problem, but it certainly sounds similar.

I just bought a new laptop battery for my toshiba satelite A105, but the problem is the changing the battery, when the battery is low then i plug in the AC adapter the laptop keeps using the battery...

Make sure that the replacement battery is registering as a proper replacement and not a knock-off. This will sometimes cause them to act funny.
Check the power settings under Control Panel. It's a long shot, but there might be a weird setting in there.

HOW DO I TURN ON MY BLUETOOTH SWITCH WHEN SETTING UP AN INTERNET CONNECTION MY TOSHIBA A105-S4397 LAPTOP

You'd need three hands to do all those things at the same time!
You can turn bluetooth on and off any time you like, but it doesn't have to be on to set up an internet connection unless your laptop is going to connect to your phone or some other device VIA bluetooth to get its connection.

Brand New Toshiba Laptop Screen won't come on

That state might called comatose, during the shut down the battery gone low, so the system is in a hang state, after recharging to its full, then you power it on and the system try to recall the last status, sometimes needs reset and the system will work, other trick is remove the battery and PSU then push power switch several times to drain residual power and attach the battery and turn power on.If this will not work, the bios might be need reset, in this case you must claim your warranty service.

Issue

The computer models listed above may display a "Password =" prompt when the computer is turned on, even though no power-on password has been set. If this happens, there is no password that will satisfy the password request. If the computer is turned off and back on again, it is very likely that the same password prompt will appear. The computer will be unusable until this problem is fixed.

If the problem has not happened yet, you can prevent it from happening in the future by upgrading the BIOS to the newest version.

The occurrence of this problem on any particular computer is unpredictable -- it may never happen, but it could happen any time that the computer is turned on. If this problem does occur, it will be necessary to send the computer to a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider, who will fix the problem at no charge to you.

Resolution

If this problem has not yet occurred on your computer, then click the following link to download and install BIOS version 1.40. This BIOS displays a power-on password prompt only when a power-on password has actually been set via the BIOS Setup program.

You may also browse for a newer version of the computer's BIOS at pcsupport.toshiba.com.

For more help, see Support Bulletin 98081213 Obtaining downloads and support docs from the Toshiba Support website.

If the problem has already occurred on your computer, then please make arrangements with a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider to have this problem fixed at no charge. To locate a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider (ASP), please visit Toshiba's Global ASP Locator at http://pcrepair.toshiba.com

BTW, I've heard that this only happens when you boot up on battery power.

Maybe you can confirm this...

If the power adapter no longer works it's time for a new one. Try brighton on ebay. They have great adapters with warrenty. I use them myself.
