2005 dodge caravan rbq am-fm radio w/6 disc cd changer

Problem started when i pulled the iod fuse for 5 sec. to reset the auto lock/unlock that stopped working. The lock problem went away but the Mode button on the radio which changed between am and fm and cd began only changing between am and cd. there are cd's in the changer and i can hear the cd cycling when the car is started..this stops after a minute or two. Every thing else with the radio works fine.

I have the same problem. The battery was changed on my 2005 jeep liberty and now the radio will not pull up CD mode, only am or fm. Any resolution without going to the dealer?

Contacted local dodge dealer about my in dash 6-disc changer problem. Chrysler seems to have an "exchange" program. They will remove your existing radio, install a "factory reconditioned" unit and send yours in to be repaired and sold to someone else. The dealer told me that my CD's would EVENTUALLY be returned to me from Chrysler. The cost I was given was $265 plus sales tax for the exchange unit, and the labor to remove and reinstall. He said about a half hour labor. Compare this to the $604 for a factory new unit. Hope this helps everyone with this problem. I was told by the Service advisor that it is common for this problem.

I bought a used one on E-Bay for $140.00 and put it in myself like all Chrysler products the company never supports their defective parts even when the same problem with the same part is recurring in a lot of the same item.

I changed the battery in my 05 dodge caravan and now the cd changer doesn't ''gears'' up when you turn on the power but the mode button only recognizes am and fm and not cd any fix?

sounds like a bad radio that shouldnt happen bttery has no effect on changer opperation if the radio powers up the changer should work as long as its a factory radio w an internal six disc changer.

2003 jeep liberty ... cd player plays first 2 songs and then ejects the cd ... have tried the cleaner ... didn't work

Hello, it sounds like you may need to rebuild the CD mechanism. Very likely a new laser and/or spindle motor. I would be happy to assist you with this in more detail. Please feel free to contact us via email at or by tel: 877-4-RADIO-MD

Thank you,

When i press the button to change from am to fm on the radio, the fm channel won't play. i can't only get am. 2002 jeep liberty

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your radio is dead. I have replaced a few stock chrysler radios for that same reason. You don't have to go to the dealer and spend a ton of money to replace it. You can go to Wal Mart, buy a nice unit for a couple hundered bucks and a fit kit for $25.00 and be rock and rolling again. You could even check the local audio stores for installs if you don't do those jobs yourself. If you want a stock radio, check the dealer for cost, then check ebay. Good luck and if you want to be sure the radio is dead, pull the radio fuse, wait a few minutes so that it can reset, put the fuse back in. Then see if you have fm again. Sorry, but I don't think this will solve it.

CD Changer doesn't work after changing battery on Jeep Liberty 20

The CD changer probably failed to establish it's link to the head unit when you put the new battery in.

Since you've already tried the clear button, I'd suggest unplugging the IP-BUS cable (black cable) from the back of the changer, wait a minute (literally, 60 seconds) and plug it back in.

I have a jeep liberty that just had a new battery put in and now the cd changer won't work. any suggestions

Alternately, try opening the CD changer door, ejecting the CD carrier and look for a small reset button below the opening. Press this with the tip of a pen and hold it for 10 seconds, then turn the radio/CD on again.

Auto locks don't work.

Instead of pulling a fuse which will definately trip off another time, why not take it for reprogramming?

I recommend you get an expert in security locks to reprogramme the locks for your car.

Rate this please.

Jammed CD

Hello, I see your post is a few months old. If you still need help or a solution for this problem please feel free to contact me at

The loss of power to the unit should not have affected the CD player. It will re-sync upon powering back on but that is normal.
