Start-->run--> type devmgmt.msc and see if your printer is here. If you cant see it in here then restart your computer and try it again. IF you still cant see in here then it means there is something wrong with drivers or installation.
please check if you have yellow mark in front of printers it means your drivers are not okay and if you cant see ur device in here it means your installation is not done properly
Hope it helps !!

Tip

How to reset the counter when replacing the inkjet cartridge.

Typically when you put a new ink cartridge in a printer you need to go to the cartridge maintenance location of the driver and "reset" the counter so the computer knows you have a new cartridge installed. By doing this the computer can keep track of the ink level because it knows approximately how many sheets can be printed on an average cartridge. This location can be accessed from the desktop by clicking on "start", then "control panel" then "printers and other hardware" then "view installed printers and other hardware", then click on the appropriate printer, then click on "printer" then "properties" then "cartridge maintenance". At this point there should be a selection where you can reset the counter, print a test page, print an alignement page, etc. I would recommend printing an alignment page. Every time you remove and install a new printer the alignment changes. Follow the instructions on the screen and your printer should be reset and printing like a champ.

Myprinter will not print all colours they are mainly blue and yellow but very faint. I have carried out ALL the maintenace procedures several times without success and have checked that all the cartridges...

Click Start
Click Control Panel
Click Classic View
Click Printers
Right-mouse-click on your printer, and choose "printing preferences" or "properties".
There may be an option to control how "light" or "dark" the printing will be, i.e., use "less" or "more" ink per page.

Also, click "print test page", to ensure that the test-page has all 3 "primary" colours.

Also, click "clean ink cartridges", to try to repair any blockages inside the ink-cartridge.

Only prints color--black ink is full, just put in a new cartridge

Instead of trying to change or find a "setting", the fastest resolution is to uninstall and reinstall the Printer, If not sure how, click start, click control panel, on the left of the window if you see switch to classic view, click there, IF XP, click Add/Remove Programs, if VISTA, click programs and features, remove all entries and reinsert install disk and repeat setup

I AM ON THE WINDOWS XP AFTER INSTALLING THE DRIVER THE TEST PAGE IS PRINTED BY THE PRINTER BUT ON GIVING COMMAND FOR OTHER PRINTING THE PRINTER DOES NOT PRINT

Got to: start>settings(classic view)>control panel>printers and faxes.
An icon for your printer should be there. Right click the printer icon and select "use as default". While in control panel, you can run the troubleshooter. Sometimes it works. Sometimes the software doesn't install correctly. Uninstall the software from the add/remove software in control panel, then re-install the printer software.

No display and no light indicators when powered on

If the printer control panel is blank when you turn on the printer, check the following items.
1. Make sure that the printer is plugged into an active electrical outlet that delivers the correct
voltage.
2. Make sure that the on/off switch is in the on position.
3. Make sure that the fan runs briefly, which indicates that the power supply is operational.
4. Make sure that the control panel display wire-harness is connected.
The control-panel wire-harness connector can easily be disconnected when you install the top
cover. If the control panel does not work after the top cover is installed, verify that the wire-harness
connector is fully seated into its DC controller PCA connector.
5. Make sure that the firmware DIMM and the formatter are seated and operating properly.
6. Remove any HP Jetdirect or other EIO cards, and then try to turn the printer on again.
If the printer control-panel display is blank, but the main cooling fan runs briefly after the printer
power is turned on, try printing an engine test page to determine whether the problem is with the
control-panel display, formatter, or other printer components.
Engine test page
To verify that the printer engine (all printer components except the formatter, formatter DIMMs,
EIO products, and the stacker or stapler/stacker) is functioning, print an engine test page. Use a
small, non-metallic, pointed object to depress the test-page switch, which is located on the right
side of the printer
The test page should have a series of vertical lines. The test page will print from the last tray you
printed from. However, if the printer has been turned off and then back on since the most recent
print job, the page will print from tray 2. The printer will continuously print test pages as long as
the test-page switch is depressed. The printer will not print a test page if it is in PowerSave
mode.
A damaged formatter might interfere with the engine test. If the engine test page does not print,
try removing the formatter and performing the engine test again. If the engine test is then
successful, the problem is almost certainly with the control panel, or the cable that
connects it.
Hope this helps
