Question about Harman Kardon Audio Players & Recorders

Left channel won't play.

My left channel on my AVR 20 won't play. I have changed the wire; tried another speaker and hooked it up to the speaker 2 set up and it still won't play. Is it worth fixing?

There could be a number of causes for this from as simple as a dirty switch to a power supply feed to the left channel being open. Without looking at the unit, it is had for me to say. Is it worth it? In my opinioon, yes. Figure on $5-$25 for parts.

Setup help for record player (Pro-Ject Carbon Debut) and pre-amp (ART DJPRE II) into Denon AVR-1909. I have everything setup properly, but I cannot get the subwoofer to turn on with my 2-channel settings...

In two channel mode, there will be no subwoofer signal unless you change the front speakers to 'small'. If you set the front speakers as 'large' then the full frequency spectrum will be sent to the front speakers, and none to the sub. Switching from bluray may keep the surround configuration until you restart as you mentioned.

Harmon kardon avr-520 keeps turning itself off

I have a avr 520 and had put it away for about 6 months to reno the theater room when it was done I hooked it all back up and it started to shut down. Not when the radio was on but when I was playing a blue ray movie after reading all the pages of info there was on this subject I went home and disconnected the speakers and sub and then played the movie with no sound for 30 minutes. Then hooked up one rear at a time let that run for 20 minutes each then the other rear. Restarted movie moved to sub then right front center then left front and it went off. Unhooked left speaker and it ran fine. ran new speaker wire to left front and it ran fine ran 2 full movies through it. The speaker wire I use is not cheap either 12 gauge 99 percent oxygen free wire. Somewhere in the reno it was snagged or pinched and was grounding out causing the unit to overheat and turn the unit off. Thanks everyone for their input that info help a lot. hopefully these helps someone

I have a Denon AVR587 running in 7.1. I have an unusual problem as the rear channels seem to play all sounds at a higher pitch and lower volume than all the other speakers on the system. I am using a voice...

Hey ajn1n1 we need to fine where the tinnyness is coming from Lets do a test shall we,

hook up your voice matched polks to your front left and right speaker outputs on your amp to see how they sound as mains. if you hear tinny then its the speakers. sometimes speaker need to be broken in a bit.

hook up your main front left and right speakers to your rear outputs. if you hear the tinnyness then its the output of that channel on the amp or a setting. Newer amps let you change speaker sizes in the menu so that it can change over the crossover for that channel.

Denon AVr hookup advice

Hi khanfaisalv

You can use Zone2 feature that is built into this amp, then have dvd playing in one room, and cd playing in another. Both controlled separately

Page 10 of the manual tells you how to hook up the wires to Zone2

Page 30 has details of how to get it up and going.

Good luck with the rewire job, thanks for using FixYa

Looking in the manual (link below) I see that this receiver uses 8ohm speakers, check that your speakers are 8 ohms or more. I think that connecting 2 sets of speakers to the same output is the problem as when you connect speakers in parallel (i.e. just twisting both pairs of wires together) you effectively half the impedance. So if 2 sets of speakers of 8ohms are connected this way the result will be 4ohms which is too low and will cause the unit to go into standby. Try removing the additional front speakers & see if the fault persists. If it does then it is likely a fault in the wiring. http://www.harmankardon.com/product_support/support_detail.aspx?Region=USA&Country=US&Language=ENG&cat=&prod=AVR%20110&sjump=om&#active
