You have to plug in the controlled via USB for the first time you use it this will link it up with the ps3 (bluetooth requres a "handshake")

Recharging time for ps3 controller

If it is properly hooked up to the PS3 via the USB cable, it should only take about an hour to fully charge. NOTE, it will only charge while the PS3 is powered on. I hope this helps. Good luck to you.

Playing mp3 songs on the ps3 --- 80gb

Whether you are hooking up your device through a USB cable or removable memory (SD card/Flash drive) the PS3 should recognize and play the titles. Here are a few steps to help you along.

1. Hook up device to your PS3

2. Select PS3 media icon where files files should be located

3. Press triangle button on controller

4. Sub menu will show up on side of screen

5. Select the 'display all' option

6. Files should now be accessable/loadable/playable

Playing files directly from the Mp3 player or loading them on the hard drive are both do-able and both methods should work.

Ps3

This should be 2 separate problems. The BR drive is bad. Either the laser has blown or the spindle motor has blown.
Now the controller. Have you hooked it up to the PS3 via the USB cord? Have you tried a different controller? I have only seen this problem 1 time and the cause was the USB ports on the PS3 were not functioning. I hope this helps. Good luck to you.
