Sanyo fan, at least 20 years old, once silent, now sounds like a moving part is hitting a stationary part. Still runs, though. No fix-it people left in Oakland, California. Can I fix it myself?

My car's glovebox door/trim was rattleing makeing a static noise. I had a friend push up on the trim while it was making the sound, and it stopped, so I just jammed a small wad of tissue up between the trim, and that solved it for the time being. Funny thing tho, after I had my tires balanced, the noise went away never to return. You could have a faulty blower motor tho, if the tissue don't work, or you can't stop it by applying pressure to the trim, look into blower motor replacement.

My computer when turned on is making a big rattling sound. What is wrong with the computer and how can I fix it?

Sounds like something is loose and is hitting the fan blades.
Remove the cover and check the cables near the fan, tie the cables back and make sure they don't hit the fan blades.

My 2005 nissan frontier overheats while sitting still what is wrong with it?

Sounds like coolant isn't circulating. While moving engine making pump circulate coolant and fresh air hitting front of radiator. At idle or a stop, engine not making pump run as fast and there is no fresh air hiiting radiator ( especially if fan isn't working properly) Check out water pump and cooling fan.

Convection oven making rattling sound.

It is most likeky that the fan bearing is worn and thus causing the rattling sound. You will probably need to replace the fan. Check first that there is no obstacle in the way of the fan rotating.

Replacement of the fan will require the back of the oven to be removed giving access to the fan unit, which will need to have the wires disconnected and the fan assembly unbolted. Fitting is the reverse.

Always remember to switch off the power before working on electrical equipment.

Fridge makes an odd rattling or woodpecker like sound intermittently. What could this be? Thanks.

If you have an icemaker, that would be the sound of either the mechanism emptying the cubes or the water valve shutting off. If the water valve is going bad, or the switch that shuts off the water valve is going bad, the water valve may 'chatter'. If this is the case, try shutting off the icemaker, or even the water supply to the unit to see if it stops.

If you don't have an icemaker, then the circulation fan may be rattling a bit or has something in it, like a bit of paper. Circulation fans are typically behind a panel in the freezer sectionon most models.

Some units rattle the metal cooling pipes a bit when the compressor motor starts up. This is a more metallic clanging sound.

If it's a very sharp repeated clicking noise, that may be the sound of the motor-start capacitor going bad.
