Question about Computers & Internet

I get error #1303 and am told to sign in as Administrator, however, I am the only user and am signed in as Administrator. I am trying to install my WordPerfect Office X4 on my laptop after a successful install on my Desktop. I have the exact same problem but Solution #1 does not work for me. I have a laptop with Windows XP and there is no option for me to de-select Use Simple File Sharing. There is also no Security Tab or the option to Select any type of user as well as no option to select Full Control. And lastly there is no option to do any of step #3. PLEASE Help. I've been trying to fix this all day. Thanks, Marc.

Thank you very much! That worked perfectly. I should have come here earlier and saved myself some time. I know where I'm coming in the future. Thanks again!

Try doing this steps in resolving the problem:

Check again to ensure you are logged in as an Administrator
Disable file sharing for the installation directory folder, then add yourself as the administrator. To do this, right-click on the folder and select Sharing and Security, then on the Sharing tab choose Do not share this folder. Now select the Security tab and ensure that all Permissions for Administrators boxes are checked.
Disconnect your computer from any network.
Disable any virus protection software.
Disable any firewall.
Close all other active programs.
Hope that helps.....

If I remember correctly, you get the advanced file sharing and security when you enter safe mode in windows xp home. Try safemode - tap f8 in start. startup in safe mode, you should be able to edit the permissions of the folder its lacking permissions to.

let me know how it goes.

What is the administrator code

To install new software (including games) you must be a system administrator. If you are not a system administrator it will prompt you to login with an administrator account. A user who is considered an system administrator must login. There is an default admin account called "Administrator" and the default password is blank. However it is usually disabled. This means you must have a different user of the computer sign in .

Inspiron1525 wont let me sign in

Wait at least a half hour before trying again. That is a common lock out period, though not used in home situations. Ask if someone changed it. The options are not good.

Lost Windows password:

  • Login as Administrator. Try with no password (load safe mode if you don't see Administrator). Press F8 during boot to access Safe Mode.
  • Login as other user (if other user is available) and manage users. Must be an administrator.
  • Reformat computer.
  • Use 3rd party software to remove password. Like http://www.top-password.com/reset-windows-password.html

Can't sign on. IT says password invalid on the domain

You shouldn't be signing on to a domain. Check your network settings.

If there is a drop down window when the password screen appears see if you can change the domain. Try hitting CTRL+ALT+DEL and see if it allows you to sign bypassing the domain.

You need to login as Administrator and create a new user or change the way the existing user is setup. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del twice at the login screen. Userid = administrator password = (leave blank) If XP Home, boot to Safe Mode by pressing F8 during boot then login as Administreator above. To create a new user goto Start / Settings / Control Panel / USer Accounts To change existing user settings goto Start / Run / enter control userpasswords2. Click on Advanced tab then Advanced button. If all fails you can just reinstall windows.

Got an error message 1935 while downloading software for a printer. tried sfc /scannow per kodak help tech, message said must sign on as administrator in console session to do this. how?

I think your system has many user accounts to log in. In your case I think you are logged in as other user in spite of administrator so the person who logs in as administrator has kept some securities so when you are trying to download anything it will ask administrator's permission,To avoid this type of errors always log in as administrator, or just remove securities from the administrator's account.

Thanks.
have a great day.

Why doeserror 1303 come up when i downloading adobe reader to vista

Hello, Bugeye.

Error 1303 refers to "Insufficient Privileges". Be certain that your account Type is Administrator.

Have you tried running the installer as an administrator? Right-click the executable file, and select "Run as administrator".

Hope this helps.

How do I sign in as the administrator on my computer?

If you haven't setup a restricted user account, or someone else has, you probably have a computer virus...
Viruses often disable some windows features...
Try to install some antivirus software, and try using the HijackThis utility to remove such windows malforms

Installing Enteprise edition MS office on Vista

you need to firstly check if you are an administrator. Windows Vista will only allow administrators to install programs.
Go to control panel and users to see if it say's administrator under your user name. If it doesn't then you need to either sign on as the administrator or change your user details to administrator, then you will be able to install it. Once it has loaded and you are happy with it, uninstall the 60 day trial version. It will be using a different liscense key to the new CD version of office that you have.

This is caused by the system folders having insufficient priviledges.

Do this...

1) Start - my Computer - tools - folder options.Select VIEW tab. Under Advanced Settings, de-select Use Simple File sharing. Close Window

2) In windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Documents and Settings. RIght click on All Users and select Properties. Select the Security tab. Select Administrators from the group or user names. Select Full control if it is not already selected.

3) Click Advanced. Select Replace Permission Entries On All Child Objects With Entries Shown Here That Apply To Child Objects .

4) Install Wordperfect. Once it has installed, re-enable file sharing from #1 above if it was enabled originally.
