Question about Maytag Neptune Washer
I have a MAH3000AWW washer and when it hits either of the two rinse cycles it trips the breaker, 20 amp. If I re-set the breaker and turn the control knob, even quickly, past either of the two rinse cycles (either regular or delay) on the knob it will instantly trip the breaker. When it first did it, at the first rinse cycle, there was a smell of something burning (electrical) . Motor problem??
Had the same problem a while back. Check the "wax motors" that control the softener and bleach dispensers. One of mine had shorted out and grounded every time the cycle hit the softener cycle. disconnecting the wax motor solved the problem

The motor is known to have bad windings. Do a search for "Neptune Washer will not start" Also just inside the control panel where the start/stop sw is should be a paper folded with the diagnostics test and schematic. It is tucked under the pressure sw attached to the back. If not there then search "Maytag Neptune motor phase test" There is also a Service Manual FREE at Goetlieh's site.
