Question about Samsung RS2630SH Side by Side Refrigerator

3 Answers

Samsung RS2630SH I had a power surge that knocked my refrig out. I called for repair and they said it just needed a new "main board". I ordered the "main board" and put it on the refrig. but the refrig still does not work. the only thing that comes on are the lights inside the refridge. What other problems or parts could need replacing?

I had the same problem as teelfish. 10 secs on power freeze and powerfridge (as described in solution #2) fixed it! Many thanks from Finland!

I had the same problem this morning, as a result of an overnight power outage. The Samsung website said my refrigerator model "doesn't exist" and had no solution to the problem. Your suggestion to hold the Power Freeze/Power Cool button for 10 seconds solved the problem -- so simple, and so unknown. THANK YOU!!!

I found a solution and it was so simple. What you have to do is hold down the power cool and power fridge buttons down for approx 10 seconds and that will reset the fridge and it should start right up. I did exactly that and it worked, AMAZING. I read this at another web sight and was told that The Manufacturers dont tell you (the consumer) about this secret because the service techs along with the part manufacturers would never make money from us (Go Figure). I hope this works for you too and if not, I cant imagine what else you need.

In the power surge first the LVT orTransformer will blowoff so first you have to change the Transfomer

Hello;

My mane is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

In your owners manual it is recommended that you have a surge protector. You can purchase individual wall socket surge protectors for about $22.00.

Any appliance in your home that has a control board should have a surge protector. A power surge can knock out your control boards.

You should have a 12 month warrantee. Get the surge protector before the service technician comes.

The control board on the door P/N W10606407 Cost $115.00 - $150.00.
You also have a power board in the lower back that communicates with the front control board. Since you have power this board is probably good. Cost: $120.00.

If you do not have coverage at this time and also even if you do, contact Sears Home Services and buy a, "Protection Agreement". As for the, "SMART" agreement. It covers you for $500.00 per service call. If you have 3 service calls in one year you are covered for $500.00 on each call. If they can not fixit after 3 calls then they give you $500.00 towards the purchase of a new unit. Do not let them talk you into the more expensive, "Master Protection Agreement". You do not need that.

If you do not have coverage now, then buy the , "SMART Agreement" wait 3 weeks and then call for service. The service technician does not care how new the coverage is. The technician just wants to do the repair and move on to his next 10-13 service calls scheduled for that day.

I have a SMART agreement on my clothes washer, which I can repair, but the service agreement cost less that the control board parts.

My electricity was disrupted due to an auto accident knocking out a power pole. When it came back on line a few hours later, the refrigerator cooling or freezing does not work. All panel lights, fan

Hello Charles;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

In your owners manual, it is recommended that you have a surge protector on your unit. In fact, any appliance including your television, home computer requires a surge protector.

At your local Home Depot, Ect. you can purchase individual wall socket surge protectors for about $20.00. They are a well worth investment.

Your board reset button is not going to work. The power shut down and restarting surge blew out both your control board and control board capacitor.

As a field service refrigeration technician, I carried no less than 3 LG control boards in my truck. 65% of my service calls were LG & Samsung. The fewest service calls I had were Amanda & Kitchen Aid, follower by GE and Kenmore.

Anyway, You need to replace both the control board (Part Number LMX25981ST - $122.00) and your control board capacitor (Part Number OCZJB20146 - $27.00).

You can get a lower price searching on the internet.

You have already accessed your control board.

So, lets replace the control board and capacitor.

1.) Un plug your unit.

2.) First ground yourself, static electricity will nock out your board. Rub your hands across something that is steel. Do not wear wool clothing.

3.) Your new control board will come in a anti-static silver bag.

4.) The control board is held in by several white pins. On the two sides of these pins are clips you must squeeze in to pull the board out.

5.) Systematically, remove one connector from the old board to the new board. The connectors have a locking tab at the top, squeeze the tab to remove. When inserting on the new board make sure these clips are locked in.

6.) replace the capacitor next to the board.

7.) Reattach the control board cover plate. Plug your unit back in. Allow 24 hours or less for the unit to balance the high pressure (160 PSI) liquid and the low side (65 PSI) vapor side.

Dispplay not lit up ¬ cooling top or botom freezer

You need to replace the main PCB board on the back of the unit. Unplug the unit and look on the back freezer side and you will see an access door. Remove the screw and cover plate to access the board. Here is the part to order.

Freezer side is fine. Fridge side says it is at

Samsung Refrigerators came with many different features. I need to be sure yours is the model RS2630SH If so I believe that defrost comes from the main control board on yours. You need to unplug and examine the freezer compartment behind the panel covering the evaporator. Looking over the wiring diagram the control comes from main board for the defrost element/heater to melt the ice on evaporator. If the evaporator is covered in ice you will need to defrost with a hair dryer and we will need to check the defrost heater with an ohm meter to make sure its OK first. If its OK then we need to visually look over the main control board for signs of heat or burn marks on both sides with power disconnected to the refrigerator. No defrost can cause this problem and the dampers from freezer if not opening properly will cause this. Let me know, Sea Breeze

We HAD A POWER SURGE NOW FRIDGE WILL NOT SWITCH ON

99% chance that the surge blew the power supply board. If it is a French door, bottom freezer model with ice and water through the left hand top door, it may have taken out the motherboard too. Samsung uses at least two boards, one main motherboard and a power supply board that powers the main.

Refrig side won't cool past 55 degrees

I am an authorized Samsung service center, and I have dealt with this ongoing design problem for years. The problem occurs when the unit comes out of the defrost cycle, not all of the frost has been removed by the defrost element and an ice bridge occurs at the top and bottom evaporator coil. There are sensors that send readings back to the main PCB during and after this cycle, They have to be replaced along with adding heat transfer clips for better frost meltage and air circulation.
Order the following parts through Samsung:: Fixer # DA61-03585A, Plate # DA61-03502A, Thermal Bi-metal # DA47-10160H, Sensor # DA32-00006W. Have these parts installed by a professional appliance repair company.
I hope this will fix your dilemma, Ward Appliance Repair.
