If water is not draining, check first that the drain hose is not obstructed. Try also advancing manually the timer/[programmer.

If water is still not draining, it may be a faulty drain pump, aproblem with belt/motor , or a defective timer/control panel.
"
The water doesn't drain from the machine If the water doesn't drain from your dishwasher, check these:

Drain line/air gap
Pump
Drain valve and/or solenoid
Belt
Motor
Timer
Drain line/air gap A clog in the drain line or air gap (if there is one) is the usual reason that a dishwasher won't drain. Often the problem is at the point where the drain line attaches to the garbage disposer or household drain line. If you remove this line, you can clear any debris from the hose or hose connection. Be sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher again.

Pump Your dishwasher pump ejects the water. The pump is usually mounted directly to the motor, then attached to the bottom of the dishwasher. You can reach the pump from inside the dishwasher, but first you need to remove the lower rack, the spray arm, and the spray arm support.

Look for an impeller--a round plastic fan blade-type of device that spins around. This is the wash impeller, which forces the water through the spray arm. Beneath the wash impeller is the drain impeller, which is similar in size and shape to the wash impeller. The drain impeller pushes the water toward the drain port. These components make up the pump. If any of the pump components are defective, you need to replace them.

Drain valve and/or solenoid Many dishwashers use a drain valve with an electric solenoid. When electricity flows to the solenoid, the valve opens and diverts the water to the drain. Sometimes the solenoid, or the diverting lever, sticks and prevents the dishwasher from draining or filling properly. Try to free up the solenoid to lubricate the lever. Otherwise, you may have to replace the solenoid or pump assembly. With these systems, the motor always rotates in one direction. When it's energized, the drain valve diverts the water.

Other dishwashers simply reverse the direction of the motor to drain the dishwasher. These units don't have a drain valve. Instead, there's a drain hose connected directly to the pump housing.

Belt One brand of dishwasher uses a belt to drive the pump. If this belt is broken or has fallen off, replace it.

Motor If the motor isn't turning or working, the unit won't drain. First check to be sure you have power to the dishwasher. If not, see the section "It doesn't work at all." If the motor hums but doesn't turn, it may need to be replaced.

Some dishwashers are susceptible to getting stuck if you don't run them regularly. If you haven't run the dishwasher for more than a week, you may need to manually spin the motor to free it up. If the motor is defective, you need to replace it. Dishwasher motors can't be serviced.

Timer Part of what the timer does is control the motor and drain valve. If the timer doesn't work properly, the water may not drain and you need to replace the timer. This problem is uncommon."

Water standing in tub

If there is a lot of water sitting inside the applicance, it's possible that the high water float switch has been activated and is preventing the dishwasher from running. Open the door, remove the bottom rack, dip as much water out of the bottom as possible with a shallow ladle or even tupperware container. When that is accomplished, shut the door and try to run a drain cycle. If the unit won't start, you may have to remove more water. You don't have to have the rack in place to run the drain cycle.

Dishwasher does not drain properly

Open the door. Pour a mug of water in the wash chamber bottom. Watch the flow of water. Where it accumulates and drain, you will find a filter. This is point where the drain takes place.

After this point it may go through a pump to the main exit hose.

We have a Maytag dishwasher. The first thing I noticed was the soap oozing down the door, but it also appears that the spray arms aren't moving. The water is sitting in the bottom of the dishwasher.

Depending on your model number, Maytag dishwashers on one model have combined drain pump & spray arm pumb. On other Maytag units these pumps are stand alone pumps. Check to make sure that:
1: drain hose to drain pipe(disposal) is open and flows well, do this by disconnecting the hose from disposal end and lay flat (in a pan) on floor and see if water comes out, if it does hose is clear of gunk.
2: Check garbage disposal inlet tube where drain hose connects, if your recently installed disposal then you may have forgot to remove plastic plug,
3: Turn spray arms by hand and make sure they spin freely,
4: make sure that when you close the door it latches and you can hear the pump running.

If all the above are ok, then you have a drain/motor gone down and will need to replace it. Give us a model number and we can advise better where else to look.

Foul smell coming from Maytag Quiet Series 300

Hello jscott,
It is typical nowdays for most dishwashers not to drain all water out of the bottom tub (Even where you cant see) due to siphon design and energy efficiency. Try using about a liter of vinegar and throw it on the bottom tub of the dishwasher. Let it run through a full cycle and see how that works. Has worked for me

Door gasket or sealOver time, door gaskets and seals harden and lose their ability to seal properly. You can't repair the seals. You need to replace them if they've begun to leak.

Leaks while running

The water at the bottom is normal if you open it during the cycle. Leak means you need to replace the L-shaped black, molded gasket that is in the lower left or right of your door opening. Replacement is easy - requires no tools. Part can be purchased for about $10 each at Sears parts department.

MDB5600AWQ Will not drain

yep first disconnect the drain hose from the sink drain then get a mop bucket shut the door and start the dishwasher the fist thing a dishwasher does when you start it is drain before it fills hold the bucket under the sink and loop the hose up and like its connected and see if it drains if it does then check the sink connection for an obstruction if not pull the bottom kickplate you will find a tech sheet there that will be help full also look to the left hand side and you will see a small drain pump make sure the wires are hooked up you should hear the pump running when you first start the dishwasher before it fills after the pump stops running open the door and turn it off if the pump is running and no or very little water is coming out of the hose then you will have to remove the pump and check to see if something is jamming the impeller reply to me if you need to and we will take it from there ok

So it sounds to me like it is your "pump" I work for an appliance parts dealer and it looks to me like the pump you need is originally part# 99002750 but then it changes to #6-917641....It runs about $57.00 and you can find this product at www.allbrandonline.com
Hope this helps!
