Question about Amana NAV8805EWW 3.3 Cu. Ft. Elustra Tub Washer

1 Answer

No hot water reaching the tub

The hot water intake seems to be clogged. No hot water is reaching the tub. I cleaned out the screen where the hose attaches to the faucet and checked the faucet to make sure it has hot water, but that didn't help. The cold water is fine. We have iron deposits in our water. Is there another screen or filter inside the washer I could clean? Any other suggestions?

Why does my washing machine take so long to fill?

Check to see if the screens are clogged on your water inlet valves. Just turn your water off at the Hot and Cold faucets, then remove the water hoses from the back of the wash machine.
The section that the hoses were attached to on the back of the wash machine is the water inlet valve (or valves). Take a flashlight and inspect for blockages on the screens (they're located right in the valve inlets).

If you see grit or calcium build up, you can usually pull the tiny plastic screens out with a pair of pliers and clean them out under running water. Then, put them back in and hook everything back up. Turn on your Hot and Cold faucets and see if your washing machine fills faster.

It should work, but if not, you'll need to replace the water inlet valve (or valves, depending on your model)

Good luck!

Moen single handle pull out kitchen faucet is clogged

There are flow checks in either the hot and cold supply lines, or there is one on the hose. It sounds like it is failing. If it's an older model, then the flo checks will be located right at the end of the two copper tubes coming out of the faucet, and can be removed using needle nose pliers. If it's a newer model, then the check is in the hose and the hose will need to be replaced.

My washer is flashing LF

LF error code indicates that there is a water supply problem.

Are both the hot and cold water faucets turned on? Turn on the water. Check the household faucets to see if the hot and cold water faucets are turned on. Completely open both faucets for proper fill.

NOTE: Both hot and cold water must be connected to the washer and turned on. The washer will not properly operate with only one incoming source of water.

Are the water inlet hoses kinked? Straighten the water inlet hoses.

Are the water inlet valve screens on the washer clogged? Turn off the water and remove inlet hoses from the inlet valves in the back of the washer. Inside the inlet valves are screens. Remove any accumulated film or particles from the screens. Reinstall hoses, turn on water, and check for leaks. See the Installation Instructions for details.

Is the water pressure less than 10 psi? If the water pressure is too low, the washer may not properly operate. To find out your exact pounds-per-square-inch (psi) value, contact your local water utility company.

Is the drain hose extending more than 8" (20.3 cm) into the drainpipe? The drain hose may be too far inside the drainpipe (standpipe) or laundry tub. Drained water can siphon back into the washer if the drain hose extends too far. Make sure the drain hose does not extend more than 8" (20.3 cm) into the drainpipe or laundry tub. Using the U-shaped drain hose form as described in the Installation Instructions will provide the appropriate length of drain hose in the drainpipe or laundry tub.

Cold water trickles into the tub while it is being filled up

The hot and cold water supply hoses that connect the washer from the water supply faucets on the wall to the water connections on the back of the clothes washer usually have filter / sediment screens within there connection fittings at the end of the hoses, these will collect dirt, sand, calcium deposits, etc.,when they trap enough of these materials they will plug up and restrict the flow of water into the clothes washer. Turn off the water faucets at the wall, and you should do this for both hot and cold hoses, disconnect the hoses from the washer and the water faucets, look into the hose ends and pull out the screens and clean them out by running water and what ever you can use to clean them completely!!!!!
Now look inside the water connections on the back of the clothes washer, where you screw the hoses on the washer, and check to see if there are filter screens in there, if there is, remove them and clean out completely also, then reverse the removal process and reconnect the hoses, makeing sure to connect the hot and cold hoses to the right connection on the back of the clothes washer!!
Try filling the washer with water to see if you have corrected the problem.
Make sure hot and cold hoses are correct on the back of the washer!!!!
GOOD LUCK !!!!!!

No hot water

Is the little screen in your hot water line clogged? (not the hose - inside the connection on the washer where you attach the hot water) Please check it.

I can't get the cold water to fill the tub/rinse. the hot works.

Your problem is either a clogged COLD fill valve or a bad water fill valve. Turn the water off. Remove the COLD hose from the WASHER. Check the filter screen inside the valve for sediment. If you find sediment, remove the screen and clean it. Replace the screen and turn the water back on. If you do not find sediment on the screen, replace the water valve.

Water pressure became slow after less than 6 months of a new Moen Kitchen. Faucet some calcium build. Pressure is the same with both hot and cold running. Makes me think it is the faucet.

It is probably a clogged airator. If the faucet is the type where the spout is attatched to a hose there may be a screen where the hose attaches to the spout. with the spout off check the flow through the hose. If the flow at the hose is good then the problem is in the spout. Most of the time it is in the spout. you can replace just the spout if you cannot find a screen or airator to clean.

Washer takes forever to fill

You said you checked the screen at the faucet end, did you check the one at the washer connection? Most washing machines have a wire mesh screen which sits inside the plastic connector that the hose connects to. You will have to use a small pointed object (like an ice pick) to remove the screen and clean it. Be careful not to damage it, I have ruined them on more than one occasion and had to replace it with a new one. If that is not the problem, there is likely a problem with the valve that is controlled by the hot/cold knob. I am not familiar with your washer brand, but mine required quite a bit of disassembly to get to the valve and switch, and in my opinion is a job better left to the local repair man.

Water problems

If the washer doesn't fill properly, or if only one temperature of water fills the tub, something is probably keeping water from entering the machine or it's draining before the tub fills completely. Set the controls to the first wash cycle, and then try each water temperature setting. If both hot and cold water seem to be entering the washer with good pressure, water may be draining out prematurely during the fill cycle, through siphoning action. Be sure the drain hose's connection to the standpipe is at least 34 inches above the floor (otherwise, discuss the problem with a plumber). An air gap between drain hose and stand pipe that prevents backflow is also good to have. If hot works but cold doesn't, or vice versa: 1) Be sure both the hot and cold water faucets are turned on. 2) Be sure the supply hoses are not kinked. 3) Turn off the faucets. Unscrew the hoses from the faucets and drain them into a bucket. Hold the bucket under the faucets and test them to make sure they both work and have plenty of pressure (see HERE for information on replacing faucets). Screw the hoses back onto the faucets. 4) Unscrew the hoses from the inlet valves and clean the filter screens just inside them; these may be clogged. To do this, pry out the screens with a screwdriver (this can be difficult; the screens may be inside the valves), flush them under running water, then put them back into the hose. If the screens look defective, replace them. Then screw the hoses back onto the valves. Be careful not to cross-thread the hose threads when screwing them back onto the valves. 5) Call an appliance repairperson; there may be a defective inlet valve or a problem with the controls.
