Model# 110 20902990 kenmore washing machine over flows
Our washing machine is over flowing sometime about every 3rd wash, when it is filling up at the begining and just before it goes into the ajatator mode it continues filling than starts overflowing. At times it will pass this cycle and when it drains after washing than start spinning than fills again it sometime continues to fill and starts overfilling.

Check the flow meter first. The flow meter has a reed switch on the side of it. Sometimes this
switch fails and doesn't respond to the magnetic wheel inside the flow
switch. It is suppose to provide a pulse action as the wheel turns. The
CCU interprets these pulses to determine flow rate. Just because the
wheel inside the meter turns, does not necessarily mean the reed switch
You will need to get behind the washer, turn the water off, disconnect the hose from the washer, look for a screen inside the water valve, hopefully there is one that you can clean if necessary. I always put the hose over in the washer and turn the water on to check the flow.
If the screens on both hot and cold are clear, water flow is good on both hot and cold, connect the water back to the washer. If the flow is still slow then the problem is inside the valve. The valve will have to be replaced.
Carmel, I've seen this a number of times on the HE3, you are going to have to replace the water inlet valve. Since it's filling after the end of the wash the pressure switch is not going to detect the fill. The valve is not closing properly. If you post the model number I can give you the part number. It's an easy fix, remove the top and the valve is right there. If you need any assistance in changing it you can email me at email@example.com Catriver..post back.
