Question about Nikon D50 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Nikon D50, digital SLR, I was using my camera at a wedding and the flash just stopped working. The camera thinks the flash is going off - it pops up and takes them quickly but no light goes off.... do these cameras have traditional 'bulbs' could it be as simple as the bulb has blown and it needs a new one? or am i looking at something bigger than that? I am normally an old school film camera person - i dont know much about this at all... thanks kathleen

Oh my, I am a professional wedding photog and the exact same thing happened to me in the midst of shooting a wedding. Luckily I had a Speedlight, but that was not working correctly either...and of course, why did I not have my old film camera as backup? Just a stupid oversight. But I threw it into manual and am fixing the best I can in Photoshop. But my autofocus also was fritzing...thanks to whomever gave that answer. I hope that is all it is.

Good day,

it seems that your built-in flash is busted. you can go to your nearest nikon service center and have it replaced. or you can purchase an external flash that you can attach to your unit. when looking an external flash better use a nikon flash, however if you are looking for other brands/manufacturers, just check if it is compatible with your unit.

i hope this will help

I want to upgrade to a digital Nikon camera. I have a F65 and am thinking of a D50 or D70. Will either be compatible with a APO sigma 170-500 mm lens bought originally with the F65

Yes. Be aware that due to what's often called the "crop factor" or "multiplication factor" the lens will seem even longer, about the equivalent of a 255-750mm lens. This is due to the fact that the sensor on the D50 or D70 is smaller than a frame of 35mm film.

The flashgun doesn't pop up when it should. It remains jammed.

Ok

Its not clear how you are using the camera.
Check the settings on the left. Some settings (Landscape for example will not allow the use of flash)
Set the camera to P,S,A OR M and it will. In Auto it will pop up if it needs it. It It still won't work Look at the menu settings for Flash Mode two settings 1) TTL and the other Manual. I have my D50 set to TTL using the built in flash and manual when using an external flash mounted in the shoe.

Hope this helps

The monitor has stopped functioning on my D50

Hello

Thank you for using
FixYa for your problem

Always check the batteries first but if is it still giving the same fault, your camera is faulty. It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate. Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.

Please rate our solutions and if you still have problems please call back for more ideas to help you

Nikon D50 -flash won't fire

Try pushing the flash forward just a tiny bit. this model of Nikon has a built in problem with the flash popping up too hard. You can also try to "soften" the pop-up action with your finger instead of just letting it snap up into position.

Yes, as long as the Tamron lens says that it is designed for Nikon.

Flash

It may be broken/blown, but there is a way to toggle the flash. There is a button located on the left-front of the camera , just left of the flash and above the lens. Hold it while scrolling the wheel on the right.

Best way to find out if it's broke or not: put your camera on Auto, go into a dark room, and take a photo. If the flash pops up and takes a shot w/o firing, you know it's broke. If it doesn't pop up at ALL, you've probably got a bigger problem
