The wheelwriters do not use a "ball element". They use a printwheel. You can find many different typestyles on ebay or amazon.

The keyboard is probably going bad. You can try my tip under WW1000 or contact Geo. Beyers Co. @ 1800-392-8085 for a keyboard rebuild. Tell them O'Reilly sent you.

How to save and reprint information on the IBM Wheelwriter 1000

The WW1000 does not have an addressable memory. The reprint key only allows you towhat has last been typed. To get an addressable memory there will be 3 keys on the left that say save, play and delete.

For the LexMark Wheelwriter 1000 you can only "Reprint" the information you have typed. Once you turn off the machine the "reprint" mode will not longer retain information.

Change Size of Type (Pitch to 12)

The pitch is set by the ptintwheel. To change it install a P/W with a 12 pitch i.e. prestiege elite 12.

You may have the R. margin there. Space all the way to the right, press R MAR key. You also could have spellcheck on code 1 will turn it off

Using the space bar move the carrier (print head) all the way to the right, press and hold tab clear key and hit the return key.
