Question about Emerson NR303TT CD Shelf System

1 Answer

CD player does not work

The system was bought about 2 weeks ago and the CD failed to work out of the sealed box. This is not an as-is or display system.

The CD drive does not display the available tracks on a CD and does not play the CD.

I made this one-time observation.
While a CD was in the drive, I checked out the other devices -- Radio, Tape Drive, Turntable. While switching back and forth between devices, I noticed that at one point that the dispay showed the CD track numbers. I then got the CD to play. Also, CD FF, FR, Pause/Play selections worked. Elation!!!!After playing several tracks I stopped the CD to start from scratch; remove and insert the CD but it never worked again. I tried different CDs, jiggled the selector knob, waited minutes for the track display -- no deal.

I hope you can guide me to a fix. I am handy with tools.
Emerson advised me to get another system from the merchant. But the merchant (Boscov's) is closing the store and all sales are final -- no exchanges, no returns. I have no problem with that policy, but I should be entitled to a working product. My alternative is to send the system to Emerson but I am not (yet) ready to spend approx. $50.- round trip UPS fees.

10/6/08 Update.
Solved the problem myself.
Repositioned the printed circuit board with the CD Drawer open/close limit switch.
I suspect that the board shifted during shipping and failed to trigger the closed drawer position.
Player is now working.

It is probable that the battery will need to be changed, this the first step to find out if additional work is required.

Sounds like a case of selling a car, when the problems
become too stressfull & you bought it

Your shop tried but may not have been
in the upper 10% skill wise

Need the best place around & a
fresh start.

I think they had the battery disconnected
& ran out of knowledge when it can time to
give you the car back.

I won't even guess without the car to test

My cd player was bought 2 weeks ago. so far I have used 2 double A batteries every other day. why? Is this normal? please help. thanks Idea

There is an electric motor in your CD player and this uses most of the battery power. Time of use is related to quality of batteries Duracell being the best usually and how long you are running the CD player. Why not get a cheap mains adaptor for indoor use and save your batteries. You could try good quality re-chargeable batteries, they usually work but some players are picky. Good Luck.

I get the TOC Error, when I put bought cds in.

don't think you will like this answer but, it probably time to get a new cd player... you could try using a cd cleaner designed to clean the laser or spray the insides with compressed air.

Car CD player plays but has no sound

Does your car have a premium sound system? Assuming that your cd deck is fine, try connecting your remote turn on wire from the sony to the corresponding wire on the car(if you bought a wiring harness, just match colors). Also some chryslers used a ground to turn on the amps.. a black wire with a female connector as well as a heavy ground ribbon cable... connect those 2 AND the ground to your stereo to enable the amplifiers.

Well, my display went out earlier this week. Took it apart and found out that the LCD on the 501dpx was burnt out. I also found out all we have to do is replace the whole faceplate instead of the system
