the model of printer I have is hp psc 1315

  • barneyjean21 Sep 27, 2008

I have already unplugged the printer and left it for about 12 hours

  • barneyjean21 Sep 27, 2008

    Done that

  • barneyjean21 Sep 27, 2008

I've unplugged the printer, disconnected it from the computer and still it doesn't work. I thought paying for this service was instead of sending it away to be serviced.

  • barneyjean21 Sep 27, 2008

    Have done this.

  • barneyjean21 Sep 29, 2008

The only thing the printer will print is the test page. I does this whether I try to print something from the computer or I try to photo copy something. The problem started after I put in 2 new cartridges. I put them in correctly and they are the right sort. The printer now turns off since I uninstalled and re-installed it.

  • barneyjean21 Sep 29, 2008

holding the power button down for 3 secs and unplugging the machine doesn't work.

  • barneyjean21 Sep 29, 2008

Tried that, got to print spooler. what are you meant to do after that?

  • barneyjean21 Sep 29, 2008

Computer recognises printer but printer will only print test page either from document on computer or just photocpying

  • barneyjean21 Sep 29, 2008

have uninstalled and reinstalled printer. It now turns off but that is all it does right

Hopefully it should work.... and do one thing Go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services -> Double click on print spooler -> stop the service and start it again.

If the HP PSC is in an error state, press and hold On/Resume for three seconds to turn it off.

WARNING: When the HP PSC is turned off, a minimal amount of power is still supplied to the device. Unplug the power cord to completely disconnect the power supply to the HP PSC.

What message you get when you try to print your email from your printer .

and about the printer not getting off tell me that have u inserted both the cartridges in the printer or just single cartridge is present in the printer.as your printer can work on single cartridge also.but if you insert single cartridge in the printer you cannot OFF your printer by pressing POWER/RESUME button you have to directly make it OFF from the main power outlet.

and also try printing test page from your printer for printing test page you have to press the CANCEL and COLOUR button at same time together and leave both the buttons and it will print the test page directly from the printer.if the test page prints properly that means your printer is proper and the problem is in your printers driver which you have loaded in your pc.uninstall the driver and then reinstall the drivers properly.and take care that while you reinstall the drivers do not connect the USB wire from the starting of the installing process you will receive a message on the screen that you can connect the USB wire between the pc and the computer.

just uninstall the old drivers and then reinstall new drivers from the installation cd and now it will work as the test page is getting printed properly.its the driver problem that is not supporting the printer to print.

Follow the steps to fix the issue as you are unable to print from the email.

Go to start>control panel>printers and faxes.

make sure your printer is present there and is showing as a default printer(It will have a check mark)

If not that you may make a right click on the printer icon and choose the option as "Set as default"

You should be able to print from your email than.

Hope this helps

Here's what to do:

  1. Check the obvious. Are you out of ink or toner? Is your printer getting power? Are all the cables securely fastened? If you have a laser printer, is it set to online mode?
  2. Are other print jobs blocking the way? Go to Start | Control Panel | Printers And Other Hardware | Printers And Faxes. Double-click the icon for your printer to open the Documents window and clear any pending print jobs by selecting Cancel All Documents from the Printer drop-down menu (see Figure 1).
  3. Try printing a test page from the printer, not from Windows XP. Most printers have a built-in test function that's activated by holding down one or more buttons while the printer is starting up. Check your printer's user manual for instructions. If this page prints successfully, you know the problem is either with your connection or with the software in your computer.
  4. Check your printer's USB or parallel connection.
  5. Try printing something simple from Windows' Notepad. To open Notepad, go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | Notepad, type a few lines of text in a document, and try printing it. If it successfully prints, the problem is with the software program you originally tried to print from.
  6. Try printing using Windows XP's generic printer driver. Open and run the Add Printer Wizard. When you get to the Install Printer Software screen, select Generic under Manufacturer and Generic/Text Only under Printers (see Figure 2).
  7. Select No for Do You Want To Use This Printer As The Default Printer? (see Figure 3). Click Next.
  8. When prompted on the next screen, tell Windows XP to print a test page. If the page successfully prints, then you probably have a problem with your installed printer driver. Either update or reinstall the driver.

You got 2 issues, let's isolate the printer if it is still working properly.

>disconnect the printer from the computer.
>disconnect the power cord of the printer.
>3 minutes after.
>re connect the power cord only.
>turn it on, wait for it till it's ready.
>now try turning the printer off using the power button.

if the solution doesn't work & the printer refuses to turn off, have it serviced or better get a new one.
(having your printer repaired costs more than buying a new one)

Try unpluging the printer for a moment, goto start -> control panel -> printers and faxes select your printer properties, print a test page.

if the page prints out, then your email program is most likely set to print to the wrong printer.

try opening the email. then go file -> print, make sure the correct printer is selected and try printing.

So you can still printer some documents like a Word documents or you can't even print with that printer? if you can't even print with the printer try uninstalling and reinstalling it back and make sure the printer is still detected by your computer because if its not detected by your computer anymore you may need to take it to a service center and have it fix there....

    HOpe that helps.....

IF none of the solution work better take it to a repair center or just get a new printer since the price of the repair is not far from the price of a new printer.....

Check my email

In basic printers you can't use email.
But new printers like Epson printers have this feature:
New Epson printers now have their own email address. Simply email photos and files to your printer from any device, anywhere. You can also change your printer's email address and turn on an "Approved Senders List" to make printing more secure. It's so easy and secure that it will change the way you print.

INK PROBLEM
Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

Hi,

Once you give print command of an email, your email program should ask you to select printer.

If you are using MS Office, by default One Note printer might be selected.

Please check which printer is assigned when you click print.

My printer will not print off my emails or documents. It will scan to the pc and let me print off, so this tells me printer is working fine. When i try and print off my holiday comfirmation from emails,...

Turn off the power to the printer....wait ... and turn it back on. Can you print a test message from the Control Panel (if using Windows) - Printers - right click on the offending printer and select Properties. Click the Print Test button. Is this connected directly to your computer or through a network?

My Dell V305 printer will not print the whole page of an email. This is a document that I need the whole page.

You can get the half document when yhr printer runs out of memory ie too big a or too detailed a print job or if the document itself contains what the printer is seeing as control or commad characters and errors out. It can also be a port error.

Usually its just too detailed a print job. When you print click on the printing preferences and then look for either a DPI setting or a Quality setting. Turn any of those down and try printing. You may have to turn it down more than once to get it to behave. Most new printers can print at 2400 dpi. Unless you know what too look for you won;t be able to see much if any difference even down to about 300 dpi.

Sometimes you cn get port errors and those can be hardware or operating system caused. You can try another usb port. Also try rebooting and printing with nothing else running.

Have you tried using the other printer that is not checked? Make it your default printer if it works, and delete the other one.
If neither works, then delete both, and reinstall software.

Pull the tray out at the bottom of the printer. This is causing the printer to think it has a paper jam. It is simply the paper feed button.

Needing to cancel printing

Your problem isn't in the printer. It's trying to print what you send to it. Check your settings in your e-mail program. You may be attempting to print all emails inadvertently.
