Water being heavier than gasoline is likely to be in the carburetor. If a bowl type carburetor, remove the bowl and clean. Allow the fuel to run for a few seconds to clear the water from the lines.
If a diaphragm type carburetor, remove the diaphragms and allow the fuel to clean the lines.

How long does it run? A few seconds or minutes? Sounds fuel related. Generally rebuilding or replacing the carburetor will fix it if it starts and dies after a few seconds. If it runs for a few minutes then we need to look at something else for the issue
Still sounds like you fuel problem. could have a clogged port in the carburetor or a sticking needle valve. pull the carburetor bowl with gas line still attached and make sure there is fuel flow as the float drops down. Spray carburetor cleaner through all carburetor ports.
Hello, Check the float bowl for water. The gas can could have introduced water and is holding the float in the up possition not allowing enough fuel to enter the bowl to run correctly.
In either case you have a fuel restriction or a lean condition due to too much air.
hop this helps.
Your engine is running lean, you need to drop the float bowl and clean it out. Also make sure the fuel is running freely from the tank when you disconnect the fuel line from the carb. Then if it is still running lean, adjust the mixture screw on the bottom of the float bowl. Slowly turn it counter-clockwise until the engine smooths out. This will fix your problem. If it starts sputtering and black smoke starts, turn it back untill it runs smooth.
