My washer fills with water but does not begin to wash. Sometimes if I pick up lid and shut it hard it clicks and begins to wash. But now that doesn't even work. Any suggestions?

You have poor contact with the left lid hinge and the lid switch.1st open the lid and check the 2 phillips head screws on the left side of the hinge.if they are loose tighten them and try mach.if the screws are tight, the lid switch might need to be replaced or adjusted.there will be 1 screw in each corner of the back of the console facing down.remove and flip console up,if there are no screws, take a putty knife and slide under front left and right corner of console and flip console up.the lid switch will be on left.if it is not broken out of socket, adjust hinge bar underneath switch by removing switch and bending silver bar up SLIGHTLY

Kenmore Elite Washer will not fill wash basket with water.

It's either a water supply issue or an electrical supply issue..
If it's a water supply issue, check the hose screens at the inlet hoses. Shut the water off to the machine, and take the hoses loose at the faucets. Take the screens that are in the hose end out and clean them, then reinstall.
If it's an electrical issue, you won't get any response from the machine when you start it.. not sure if this is your case, but the first place is to check the circuit breaker and reset if needed. Then check the lid switch operation. This switch will keep water from flowing if it's not properly operating. Sometimes the lid on a washer can get slightly bent by too much weight be placed on the machine. Open and close the lid and listen for a positive "click" from the micro switch.
Those are good things to check for a start...let us know if you still have a problem with your kenmore.

I have a Kenmore Elite top loader that does not agitate after its filled with water and the lid is shut. I've tried all speeds.

I had the same problem with my Kenmoore and had to replace the agitator...ordered the part through Sears. Wasn't hard to fix, just needed to wait for the shipment.

Washplate problem Kenmore Elite Calypso washer

Hello genny2626
Welcome,

You said, your 6 year old Kenmore elite top loader's wash plate doesn't seem to go through its proper motions. When the lid is closed and the washer has filled and the agitating cycle begins, you can hear a vibrating noise as if the plate is trying to move on the gentle cycle, but when the lid is opened, nothing has moved at all. The drain and spin work fine, and the machine goes through an entire cycle without error messages, but the clothes aren't clean. You said, you have heard a lot of horror stories of how expensive these washers are to repair, so would like an idea of what's wrong beforehand.

Here are a list of common vibration noises

Noisy, vibrating, off-balance

Is the washer level? Does the washer rock when pushed
against the corners?
The washer must be level. The front and rear feet must be in
firm contact with the floor. Check that the locknuts are
tightened. See “Level the Washer.”
Is the floor flexing, sagging or not level?
Flooring that flexes or is uneven can contribute to noise and
vibration of the washer. A ³⁄₄" (1.9 cm) piece of plywood under
the washer will reduce the sounds. See “Location
Requirements.”
 Is the load balanced?
Evenly distribute the load in the washer basket and make
sure the height of the load does not exceed the top row of
basket holes. See “Starting Your Washer.”
Do you hear clicking or other noises when the cycle
changes from washing to draining or spinning?
When the drive system shifts or the washer basket settles
between cycles you may hear noises that are different from
your previous washer. These are normal washer noises.
Is the washer gurgling or humming?

Is the washer level? The wash load
should be balanced and not overloaded. The washer must be
level. The front feet should be properly installed and the nuts
tightened. Reset the rear leveling legs (if needed). See the
Installation Instructions.
Did you completely remove the yellow shipping strap with
cotter pins? See the Installation Instructions.
• Are the gears engaging after the drain and before spin, or
is the upper part of agitator clicking during wash? These
are normal washer noises.

Let me know if any of these are the solution!

Kenmore 22956 top loader quit running after agite cycle

If the timer cycles your lid switch is ok.
most likely: motor Switch (on Motor), condenser next to motor, motor itself, or wiring going from the time to the switch,

It is probably cost efficient to replace the unit rather than trowing parts at it .
