Hi ccarson004,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is: Your son accidentally put dishwashing soap (for dishwashers) in the area where the jetdry stuff goes? Can this be corrected?

Yes, but I don't recomend this to the average homeowner because it requires taking the door apart. You might consider the Repair Directory for a repairman. You could just use the d/w, I don't think it will hurt anything and it will quickly flush itself out.

I accidentally put Mr. Clean in my dishwasher instead of Jet Dry. So far no problems. The dishes even look cleaner. I'm just wondering if it's hurting us by eating off the dishes, or if it's hurtin

It depends on the food that's on the plates. Deep fried, fatty stuff is bad for you.
As long as the plates and the machine has rinsed with clean water (run a cycle with no soap) all will be well, well, except for your arteries if you keep wolfing down greasy stuff.

Recent changes in the law prevent soap makers from putting phosphates in dishwasher soap so they're not as effective as the were even a few months ago.  Unfortunately,  the solution is more thorough rinsing before loading.

I used my dishwasher for the first time today and my dishes came out foggy, there was still a soap residue

If your dishwasher has one of those reservoir's for JetDry...Try adding some of that. You could also pour one cup of white vinegar into the bottom of your dishwasher and then run it through a cycle on the highest level of heat possible to make sure the dishwasher is clean of any manufacturing residue etc.

Last three loads have not cleaned my glasses - cloudy and lipstick still on them. Using JetDry and Cascade powder. What can I do to fix this?

You probably have a soap buildup. Try running it without any dishes in it. Let it fill up and start washing a few minutes, the open the door and see if there are suds. If there is, pour a half cup of cooking oil into the water and let it complete the cycle. That will clear the soap buildup. Aside from that, keep using jetdry and make sur the water going into the dishwasher is hot (run kitchen tap until it's hot before starting dishwasher to clear the line)

You simply need to use a product called Jetdry for a couple of weeks until all the traces of factory solvents etc. work out of the machine. Sometimes if you have a really high concentration of particulates in your water the problem will continue and that is what the Jetdry is for. It isn't the new dishwashers problem it is the local water. One permanent solution is to hook up a water purifier/softner in order to clean the water up. Jetdry is used in many areas and is perfectly safe. Good Luck this will help.

Soap residue on all items after dishwasher completes its cycle.

Hi Rioski

The first thing to do is where you put the jetdry turn it down to one. use powdered detergent the best is electosol is the blue box, dont use the heated dry feature and run the hot water at the sink first to get it good and hot that should fix the problem. I also recomend using GLISTEN every 6 months. its a citric acid that is designed to clean the dishwasher. i hope this helped.

Soap left in cups when cycle is over

If the problem is that the dishwasher isn't filling with enough water, you should replace the water valve.

If it's getting enough water, but dishes have a white film on them or are still not getting clean, you may have hard water build up in your machine. Try to run a dishwasher cleaner thru it, or depending on how much buildup you have, you may need to take the dishwasher apart and clean it. I know JetDry puts a cleaner out, but I haven't personally tried it yet.

You can usually see white buildup inside the dishwasher if this is your problem.
