The adapters that come with the unit are sized according to the size of the unit so that when they are fully retracted they do not ove lap the unit. There are different size units depending on how many btu's are required for cooling. If the window is larger than the wing span of the unit you will have to prefab the difference.

Hello, first make sure the unit is tilted back in the window about a 1/4 inch. Also, check the drain on unit, sometimes they can clog and prevent condensate from draining.

Window kit dimentions i have a window 18 inch wide

The portable AC units generally have a customizable, exhaust hose window, termination kit that comes with the unit.. In other words it can be cut to fit. The one that comes with the unit will fit casement windows, as well as sash windows.

To further assist you, I have included a link to the Owner's/Installation Manual for the model you referenced. You may download and print it if you like.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

Cut a piece of plywood to fit your window opening, install a flex connector ductboard%20collar.jpglike the one shown here, and use flexible duct to connect to your unit and the connector you attached to the plywood. flex-duct.gif

Window or wall mount

The differance between a window and wall mounted A/C is the mounting system.
Window units are usually smaller BTU systems they set in the window, so you do not have to cut a hole in the wall to install it.
For a bedroom say 10 x 10 you can use @ 5000 btu it plugs into a standard 120 volt electric outlet. If the room is bigger then go bigger say @ 6000 btu or so. Take your room dementions with you when shopping for a unit. sometimes they have sizing on the side of the unit box.
Wall units are usually larger units. Like whole house 18,000 btu
they slide in and out of the case and use a 240 volt seperate circuit.
Best place to shop for A/C's are Home Depot, Lowes, Sams Club, B.J.'s, and Cosco they buy in large volumeusually give a Good deal I've seen 5000 btu units as low as $89.00
Just don't drop the unit out the window when installing it
From the second floor it will void your warranty. LOL
Good Luck Phil

Installing room airconditioner

what i did was buy a 2x6 cut them all into about 18 inches in length screwed one piece onto the window sill and the other 3 i screwed into that piece going out the window so the a/c unit sits on the wood pieces and clears the window sill that way i dont have to worry about the a/c unit weight on the window it was all on the wood pieces sticking out

Installation Issues

Measure the actual case. If it is less than 20", then it will fit by removing the window kit side pieces, to leave the bare case. Make sure the unit is well supported & level.

Window to wall unit?

No, actually switching from window to wall is easier that vise versa. I don't know your can size versus the hole in the wall but you may have to enlarge it if its bigger or fill in the space with some wood trim on the outside and some molding or sheetrock on the inside. some insulation wont hurt either . the expandable foam is good for the wall space. Caulking for the cracks. pretty basic stuff. A good way to mount it is to slide the louvered can out and screw it to the wall, then its nice and secure. Unless its a very large and heavy unit, you shouldn't need any support struts on the bottom.
