Bosch ngt cooktop

The grates fall off their "dimples" while I am trying to cook. Very dangerous. The grates and cooktop are clean - no grease. What can I do?

Have cast iron grates with no enamel on them. Burned on grease, etc on grates from previous owner. Can I clean them in a self cleaning oven? If not, what is best way to clean? Thankyou.

I would spray them down with a good oven cleaner ,outdoors and let them sit there soaking a couple days . then wash off and see what they look like .

How can I clean the black cooktop grids?

put in kitchen sink with hot hot water over night, with dish washing liquid. preferbly when kitchen is not being used. (After dinner time) drain then spray with mr muscle oven cleaner give it about an hour, then scrub the **** out of them with a stainless steel goldilocks. Rinse then soak in hot water again for 20 minutes then drip dry. After use when cooking always clean any mess left behind. Wipe down so it is easier for you to wash when needed.

The good news is you have a great product! You just need technique and the "Green" cleaner DeBruce Polish. Use DeBruce Polish and a cloth for clean ups. DeBruce Polish is Odorless, Non-Toxic and non abrasive and perfect on stainless steel, glass cook tops, polished granite marble and more. We buy Debruce Polish at debrucepolish.com
  • Firstly clean with DeBruce Polish to clarify area.
  • you may have to "re-grain" those finely scratched areas.
  • Blend or "scratch out" the misdirection scratch's with new "controlled" scratching, useing a 3M scotch brite #7447 you get at auto parts store (Nappa). Use medium very firm pressure.
  • -Re-clean with DeBruce Polish. Touch ups are now a breeze.

Was cooking fudge-hot sugary liquid boiled over onto glass cooktop. I tried to clean, but appears as if glass top has been ruined. It is rough. Tried scraping with razor, but does not help. Used cooktop...

Maybe try white vinegar - apparently you can clean glass hobs with it & it might help dissolve the fudge stuff if you pour it on that. I wouldn't use a razor as you might damage the hob more.

Stained gas range burner grates

Hey y'all. I have the same lame GE profile gas cooktop with the gray grates and burner covers. I know this is the expensive way to go, but I use Easy-Off "self-cleaning oven" oven cleaning spray. For about $5, you get 3 cleanings. It is a pain to do, but I have better things to do than scrub these grates all the time. I don't know why, but the baked on crud just drives me crazy. I tried everything to clean them completely. I even tried to scrub the darn things with a kitchen pumice stone(sold at walmart)but it is impossible to get the curvy areas clean. Now the paint has started to wear off on the burner covers.

I do not use the oven cleaner on the cooktop itself. I use soft-scrub with baking soda, then cover the cooktop with a sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil and cut out holes for the burners. This keeps most of the spills contained, and helps with cleanup.

I visited to the GE parts web page, and they only sell gray grates and covers. I am going to buy black BBQ grill paint(spray can)from Home Depot and try it on the burner covers first. They are the least expensive to replace if it fails, and if it works, I will paint the grates with this high temperature paint. I will keep you posted on the results.

Regards,

Laura D.

How to remove burnt grease, fix lightly scratched black stovetop?

Hi, I assume we are talking about a flat glass top. First the bad news. using any abrasives will permanently scratch the glass hence the dull spot. You can however make it look a little better. Grease spots and the like can be removed with a flat razor blade scraper which needs to be held flat to avoid the corners making scratches. Use any good glass/ceramic cooktop cleaner ( which is the ONLY cleaner you should ever use ) (available in your local grocery diy store and some hardware stores). The cleaner is a thick liquid, put about a dime size drop on each burner area and use a paper towel to buff out the finish like waxing a car. Once it looks clean flip your paper towel over and shine the top to like new. Good Luck!

GE cooktop has porceline "popping" off literally.

Porceline (a coating over metal in this case) is actually a type of glass, and subject to fracture upon sudden thermal shock or physical stress. The part you indicate is WB62T10124 for a JGB939C1WW probably a bit over $150 or a WB62T10132 for a JGP939C2WW, probably a bit over $100, but the labor to replace it would be costly. If you rate this, please remember I did not manufacture this product, nor am I a GE employee, so please don't shoot the messenger.

Profile gas on glass cooktop

Hello mkerfoot, I know the feeling. The same complaint I hear about on SS. I just sink type dish washing detergent to clean the grease off and a paper towel with vinegar water solution. For heavy staining on the burner area, apply the dw detergent full strenght and let it sit to loosen the debre. Hope this helps.

Cleaning grates of GE profile gas stove

Sounds crazy, but this works. Soak the grates in warm to hot water with 2 dryer sheets (Bounce), let them soak for an hour or two. Unbeliveable how they came clean. I did have to use a Scotch Brite pad on the two that I use most, but it sure beats replacing them.

You should never use large amounts of water on any electrical appliance. If the moisture is under the glass, it will need to be replaced.

always unplug electricity before attempting to repair on any electrical appliance
