Connecting a sony blu ray 350 to denon 1601/ home theatre

I just purchased a sony Bluray 350 and I connected it by HDMI to the sony bravia. The store told me to attach a co-axial cable from the blu ray to the denon receiver but I still can't sound from the home theatre. Is there a special setting on either the blu ray or Denon I must do to get sound

Yes select audio optical out on your Blu Ray Player under Audio settings and make sure the Denon is set to Optical or Auto in. You should be set to go

I have a denon avr 1610 and it is connected to a sony blu ray S370. when i play a blu ray the HD sound i.e DTS HD-MA and Dolby True HD does not give proper sound and when turn on the full volume the there...

Make sure you have connected the blu ray players HDMI out to the Denon's HDMI in. HD sound is passed only through the HDMI port. And in the BD370's sound menu disable downsampling ( i.e enable uncompressed PCM audio for HDMI ).

Denon AVR 1610 hdmi to component video conversion missing?

hello i believe your problem is that you are trying to downconvert from hdmi to component connections and Denon receivers will not do that.

I have a 4310 and I know it will UPconvert from an analog signal to HDMI but won't do it the other way around.

you may have to use component inputs for all your equipment. You will also have to go into the receivers menu and designate which signal is being used for each component as it won't auto select between analog and digital signals when it comes to video.

hope that helps

Video but no audio

This receiver does not support audio via HDMI. You need to connect BD player via spdif cable. Use optical or coax depending on what does the BD player support - receiver supports both.

HDMI connection with Panasonic DMP-BD35K Blu-Ray Disc Player

Try hooking the Panasonic up straight to the tv without going through the receiver. If it displays a picture its obviously not the blu-ray player. May also be a problem with the HDMI cable itself. Hope this helps.

Hdmi not working

Please rephrase you get an "ant screen"?

Does the sound work? What is your hdmi video output device?

At any rate, you can also try this quick fix. In the setup menu go to Source Select. Make sure these settngs are right:

Assign>HDMI = HDMI 1 - 4 (depending on device)
Input Mode>Input Mode = Auto
Decod Mode>Decode Moe = Auto
Other>Video Convert = On

Set this for sources (devices) you have connected to the hdmi.

How to connect BLU-RAY DVD player to Pioneer Plasma TV via HDMI

The best possible solution to your problem is :
Connect your blu ray player directly to the HDMI input of you Plasma and watch HD video....
and connect the 5.1/7.1 sound thru the optical or the coaxial link directly to your AVR 3805.
You will not loose anything on the Blu-Ray.
The sound is best processsed by the AVR3805, while the video, which is the real upgrade (BluRay) in terms of resolution of picture would be processed by your plasma.

Connect and Enjoy

How do i connect my blu ray , home theater and tv? I know the hdmi gos from the blu ray to the tv and the optical from the bluray to the home theater. The quest is will i be able to hear my tv in surround...

If your home theater has an hdmi in and out then you wuol be better of connecting the blu-ray hdmi to your home theater then to your tv. If all you have are optical connections to your reciever then what your doing will work fine. Additionally if your blu-ray has built in decoders not present in your reciever and also has 5.1 or 7.1 analog outs you can connect them to a six or seven channel in on your reciever if it is so equipped and have the benefit of true-hd or other current audio formats on current Blu-rays

Connecting Sony BDP S550 Blu-ray player to my Denon 3802 receiver.

The only thing you need is an optical audio cable (toslink) connecting the Blu-ray blayer with one of the three inputs on the AVR3802. Then assign this input in the system menu to the input you like (e. g. DVD) and that should be it. The Receiver automatically detects the sound format from the Blu-ray and changes from stereo to DTS, DD5.1, 7.1 or whatever.
