Problem with Sony BRAVIA DAV-HDX267W Theater System with Wireless Speaker Kit System

Code for Comcast remote for Sony DAVHDX275

I am setting up HD TV system with a Comcast Custom DVR3 Remote. I am using a Sony DAVHDX275 Home Theater System for the sound. I have been able to program the Comcast remote to control my Sharp TV but have not been able to do the same with the Sony 275. I have tried all the codes in the Comcast remote manual.
Can you help me determine the necessary code?

    • I have a friend who has a like setup as mine, Comcast remote with Sony sound system.
      His remote controls the Sony with no problem. I borrowed it and tried it with mine and it worked great. In researching this I found that his remote used four digit codes and mine used 5 digit codes. In checking the manual that came with the one that uses four digits it has codes listed for Home Theater systems. The five digit code manual does not.
      The two remotes look exactly alike. I went to the local Comcast store and told them my problem and they knew that some remotes use only four digits while others use five.
      They gladly exchanged the remote and now I can use one remote to control everything.

    • Mine uses a four didg code and it works for every thing other than the sony home theater system that gives me a 4 didg code? any ideas on codes?

It seems like most (maybe all) Sony HTIB do not work with the Comcast Custom Remote. I've found a work around that fixes the volume control and power button though. Hope it helps you all. I have a DAVHDX275 but I think this will work for most Sony HTIB systems.

What you need to do is steal some codes from a like product and then hardcode in the changes you need to the comcast remote. Set your AUX to 21232 (a sony code for TV/VCRs).

Then do the following:

1. While still on AUX, press and hold SETUP again until the remote blinks twice
2. Type 994
3. Press and release SETUP
4. Type 32975
5. Press and release VOL+
The remote should blink twice. That should reprogram the VOL+ to work with your Sony HT device. For each of the following function codes, follow the same steps and use the codes listed below:
Vol+ = 32975
Vol- = 31951
Power = 32719

the mute code = 33743

Try the old 4 digit codes listed here: http://www.comcast.com/remotes/universal.html
just prefix it with a 1 (if the 4 digit code is 0000, use 10000). Worked for my Sony DAV-DX375 with the (1)1903 code.

    • Probably a little over 4 years ago when my old remote stopped working and I exchanged it for a new one. Imagine my surprise when the new remote wouldn't recognize my Sony DAV-HDX274 (Bravia home theatre). Luckily, the new remote worked okay with my other TV so I just swapped remotes. This old remote has been acting flaky for a couple of months now, so I can finally exchange it for a new one. Yayyyy! Thanks, foo8559!
