How to upload photos and documents in ancestry?

To upload photos and documents to your Ancestry account, follow these steps:
  1. Log in to your Ancestry account and open the family tree that you want to add media to.
  2. Select the person in the tree who you want to add media to.
  3. Click the "Add Media" button.
  4. Click the "Choose Files" button to select the photos or documents that you want to upload. You can select multiple files at once.
  5. Select the privacy setting for the media that you are uploading. You can choose to make the media public or private.
  6. Click the "Add Media" button to upload the files to your tree.
Keep in mind that Ancestry only supports files that are 15 MB or smaller and in a supported format, such as .jpg or .pdf. If your files are larger or in an unsupported format, they will not be able to be uploaded. Additionally, consider whether you want the media to be public or private before uploading. If you have any trouble uploading your files, you may want to try troubleshooting or contacting Ancestry customer support for assistance.

My jpeg files stored in Olympus Master 2 and Olympus Viewer 3 file management software will not display pictues to prevue or edit. The JPEG files show the same MB size in properties I don't believe

Both are just the programs to put the pictures on the computer and edit the pictures. The pictures should be on the computer.
Try to find the folders, where the programmes did store the jpegs. Or if you shoot RAW, also the RAW files.
Copy all the pictures in these folders to a different drive. The best is an external USB drive. Only after you are sure you did copy (do NOT MOVE the pictures but COPY because move will delete the originals) all the pictures to a safe place, start finding out, what could be wrong with the Olympus software.

For lots of camera's you can chose same file size, but you are right I would not trust that.
Even when you have a very good computer, with a very good hard drive, please do make backups regularly. And actually one backup is no backup. Always try to have two backups on two different media.

Need more help? just let me know.

JPEG storage reduced

Don't confuse bytes with pixels. A pixel is point of color. A byte is a unit of computer storage. A picture with 10 million pixels may or may not require 10 million bytes of storage.

As an exercise, take a picture outside your window, properly exposed and focused. Now put your camera into manual mode, select a fast shutter speed (1/1000 will do), put the lens cap on, and take a picture. Compare the two file sizes. The first file should have a lot of detail in it and will be quite a bit larger. The second file should be all black. The two pictures will have the same number of pixels, but require different amounts of storage.

In the worst case, each pixel will require three bytes to specify its color. JPEG files will be compressed so it's not quite this bad. At the other extreme, it doesn't take many bytes to say "3872x2592 pixels, every one of them absolutely black."

Changes from slide to slide

it's likely that the rest of each slide is not exaclty equal (e.g. the amount of text) which could push the picture a little bit in one direction or another or make powerpoint automatically resize the picture or text objects to fit the slide. I'd have to really see the slide presentation to be 100% sure but orientation on each slide is likely the cause.

How can I see a Microsoft Power Point slide show, size 3.30MB ?

Unless your picture frame supports Power point files you can't load it straight on to it, but you could try this.
  1. Open the powerpoint file in MS Powerpoint (or download the free powerpoint viewer)
  2. Use the Print Screen button (also marked PrtSc) to copy the screen to the clipboard
  3. Paste into a picture program (such as MS Paint, free with Windows)
  4. Save the files as a JPEG
  5. Load these onto the picture frame
Hope this helps

Problem with JPEG compression?

think what is happening is that Pentax is not using the maximum JPEG quality value for their high quality setting. I re-saved an image in Photoshop last night, and the JPEG quality value was set to 9. I increased it to 12, and ended up with a 3.5 MB file.
