Kdl-32l504 Possible IR sensor dead. It worked well for approximately one year. Looking at the remote with a digital camera reveals light is being emitted from the remote. Of course universal remotes that work on other similar tv sets don't work on it. Must be a dead IR sensor. No known tv settings are hampering its ability to receive a signal. How should I go about replacing it!?

My tv control doesn't work and i put new battery's in and that didn't work either

There's a quick test you can do to test the functionality of the remote to make sure it isn't the TV's IR sensor that's broken. To perform the test all you need is the remote and a digital camera (cell phone cam works too). Take the remote and look at the IR "eye" through the camera's screen. Don't actually take a picture simply use the camera as you would a magnifying glass. While looking at the IR eye press a few buttons on the remote. If the remote is working you should see light coming out of the remote. Our eyes cant see the IR light but the camera can. If the remote doesn't light up then the remote is at fault. You can replace your remote on many websites for somewhere in the 20 - 50 dollar range.

http://www.replacementremotes.com/

Here for example, you need to input your TV model number and it will tell you what remote you need with pictures. Then, once you are sure that is the remote you want, you can order right from the same website.

Hope that helps!

There is a quick test you can do to figure out if the IR transmitter on the remote is broken or if the TV's IR sensor is at fault. Using a digital camera (cell phone works too) set up a picture of your remote's IR transmitter. DO NOT TAKE A PICTURE. Simply look at the sensor through the camera's screen. Now while looking at the screen press a few buttons on the remote. If you (through the camera's screen) see a red light coming from the remote, then the remote is fine. As far as getting it repaired, you can look for a TV repair shop in your local yellow pages. Call a few and ask for a quote.

My remote control does not control my tv

Testing remote control:
The remote control puts out IR (InfraRed) signal that human eyes cannot see, to find out if the remote is sending out the signal or not you just point the remote at the digital camera’s Lens (Digital Camera can detect IR), you should see flashing light on the camera’s screen when any one of the remote button is pushed. If you do see the flashing on the camera, then the problem is in the TV IR receiver or the main logic board; more troubleshooting with scope will be needed to look at the signals.

Remote control quit working

Batteries can be bad or installed improperly. If you know someone with a digital camera that has an lcd display, point the remote at the camera while someone is looking at the camera's image in real time. Infrared will appear as white light to the camera's CCD "eye". Cool trick.
Remember, IR is line of sight. Make sure nothing is blocking the path between the remote and the TV. Also IR remotes and fluorescent lighting doesn't mix.
