Question about Maytag MZD2766GES Side by Side Refrigerator
Why didn't Maytag recall all these defected refrigerators which were very expensive. I paid $2000 for mine and I started having problems with it from the first week when the plastic cover on the top of the door hinge broke off. I am so disapointed and I will never ever buy any Maytag products again. Now I need a solution for my fridge side which keeps stops cooling every month and ruins the food because the freezer side freezes too much and stops cooling the fridge side. For someone with a very limited budget the repairs cost more than buying a new fridge and I need maytag to provide me with a solution because I can't afford fixing it anymore.
Yes the defrost board was the problem with my Maytag.
For those do-it-yourselfers out there that know how to solder, here is what I found.
The defrost board has many cold solder joints on it. I resoldered just about every solder joint on my board and the fridge seems to be working fine. Time will tell. If you don't know how to solder, this is not for you. I believe the expansion/contraction of the solder joints causes the defrost board to not work when needed.

If either door is open, the airflow will be wrong. Do you see a lot of "snow" or frost building up at the bottom of the freezer rear wall?
Do you hear a fan running in the freezer compartment?
Where are your controls set?
Is the fan back by the compressor running?
Have you checked the air duct at the bottom behind the lower crisper drawers?
The main reason for this type of problem is that the (evaporator) coils below the fan would be iced up.
So, i need you to do this,
1.unscrew the back panels on the freezer side and note whether the evaporator coils were all iced up.
2. If it is iced up, then defrost the coils and then replace the defrost board in the refrigerator.
Regrigerator will be back to normal . Defrost board is located on top of refrigertor side underneath the temp control unit.
Easy repair once you remove the temp control cover. Unscrew the defrost board and plug new connection in.
