Unit not responding after pressing reset button

Only info that appears on the screen is the word MAGELLAN and a black solid line at the bottom .
Tried several times with resetting but to no avail.
This problem followed after trying to update the present software to ver 2.36.
Thanks in advance for any help.Ed

I tried pairing my maestro with my cell phone and it froze up.Then I shut it down .Every time I start it up it displays MAGELLAN on blue screen and solid bar at bottom. This is my 3rd Magellan Maestro Since I bought the first one at Circuit City .It lasted almost one month before I return it to Circuit City for replacement. (it froze up same way) they replaced it free no problem. Then the second one got a black cancer- looking -root shaped spots on the screen. It only got worse after several months. So I took that one back to Circuit City and they replaced it with an identical unit free. Now this just went out today. Some how I don't think the next one is going to last more than a couple of months, but I will take it back and ask for another tomarrow.

You have wiped out the operating system. (Not your fault. I think the download is corrupt or something) I had the exact same thing happen and when I spoke to Magellan tech support they told me that something happened during the download and the operating system was erased and there is no way to retrieve it unless I sent it back to them for repair. I just recently purchased mine so I called the store where I bought it, sent it back and they sent me a new one. I don't know why the download doesn't work but I don't think I'll try it again.

How To Reset Your Magellan Maestro/Roadmate GPS Units

Factory Reset
Do not attempt to perform a factory reset on the Roadmate or Maestro GPS units by holding down both the "Reset" and "Power" buttons. This will cause the GPS unit to format its own hard drive. Doing so will erase all data, including the GPS software, from the unit.
  1. Locate the button marked "Reset" on the left, right or bottom of the unit.
  2. Using a thin object, such as a paper clip, depress the button for two to three seconds. The unit should reset.
  3. If the unit does not reset, immediately press the button again and hold it for up to 10 seconds.
If your Maestro GPS Touch Screen Doesn't work, try performing a Hardware Reset
  1. Remove the Magellan Maestro from the holding cradle.
  2. Hold down the "Power" button on the right side of the device, until the unit powers on.
  3. Straighten the end of a paper clip. Place the paper clip in the reset hole, located on the left side of the GPS unit. Hold down the "Reset" button for 10 seconds. Remove the paper clip.
  4. Turn the Magellan Maestro unit off by holding down the "Power" button. Turn the unit back on again. The device is now reset.

If your Roadmate GPS is locked up, try performing a Hardware Reset
  1. On the RoadMate, press + + - - + -
  2. The "hidden menu" will appear.
  3. From there, you can access the shell and perform a hard reset.

Magellan screen frozen

assuming you have the 2200 as listed in your category, depending when your 2200t was made, it could either have a push type (one you would use a paper clip to reset) or a slide switch.

both are located in the same position (on the left side, bottom under the flap right under the sd card slot)

turn on the gps till you get to the warning screen, then reset it.

if its is the early model with the slide switch, youll have to move it back to the other position and restart it..

if that fails, i would try the latest update, well actually i would install the update either way, whether the reset works or not.

you can get the update HERE

let me know if you need further help

My gps is stuck on magellan boot up screen.

turn on your 1210 once it boots to the magellan screen press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds, once it shuts off, power it back on by pressing and holding the power button for up to ten seconds then let it load.

if that fails, power it up and try the reset button, (either on the bottom or on the side)the little pinhole, and use a paper clip to depress the reset
button.

Magellan 4350 stuck at start up screen, and will not connect to computer

Try pressing the reset button located on the bottom left of the unit. It is a small, 1-2 mm hole - you will need a pen or paper clip to press it.

run the firmware again and make sure you wait until it tells you to disconnect the usb and wait for the unit to finish the reboot.

When the unit is off, can you see a line where the screen is possibly cracked? look close. If you can your LCD is busted and it needs to be replaced. Is the sound working fine? Will respond after answers.
