How to check wiring inside a cobra 25 classic to determine if its made propperly

Yes, if you have a meter check resistance (like reading a fuse) with the radio off and power cord removed.

Only two of the three pins (look at power cord to see only two have metal in them) are used.

With power switch on front in off position there should be no reading across the + to - pins on the back of the radio.

If a short there the protect diode is shorted--likely first time it got hooked up backwards--easy to do.

Follow in this case the + pin on back just inside the radio and it goes directly to a diode. cut the diode if a short there and read again at the plug--if short gone replace the diode--radio will work without it but you will have no protection in that case.

I disconnected and reconnected the cobra 29 nw ltd classic and now my voice is heard very low and slow it was working fine just before disconnection. can you help

How did you disconnect it?? Antenna wire?? Power supply?? Microphone?? May be that you have a short in your coax in back of radio. Try taking it loose and screw it back in. Try new coax. Turn up Mic gain knob or change microphone. Make sure power wires are connected RED to RED(+) and Black to Black(-). Try grounding radio to metal ; if inside house ground to metal water pipes, filing cabinet, breaker box or meter box or 8 foot rod into earth. Measure SWR it should read 1.1 to 1.5. Measure power supply with Voltmeter it should be 12 to 15 volts. Check antenna plug in back of radio is my guess or microphone itself.

I have a 2006 china made cobra 29 nw ltd classic and the T1 transformer is getting hot to the point it starts to melt and all i did was change the final to a irf510 and solder bigger power wires to the...

You need 60/40 for the solder. others would work but they are higher temps and you would need a larger soldering iron. you may have a solder bridge somewheres causing a short to the t1.. or the mosfet is not installed correctly.

Burnt one of the lead power wires of plug in on the inside and do not have wiring diagram to see where it goes, where do I go to get diagram for the wiring of the Cobra LTD Classic.

I don't know how well that radio is going to work even if you repair the bad wire. You may have blown the protection diode, D23, which is an N10014, and easy to fix however, you may have done much worse. You could have blown the audio chip, and maybe even the PLL.

If you blew the PLL then it's not even worth fixing.

Connecting a Cobra 29LTD to a Pyramid PS-3KX 13.8VDC Power Supply

The wires should just attach to the red and black terminals on the radio, strip some wire unscrew the terminals a little wrap behind, and tighten again. Good luck! Or buy some banana plugs and they will plug right in the front

Cobra classic 29 ltd

Had fixed the same problem yesterday. My cobra worked when it wanted to, when it didn't it looked like you explained. I found out that on my cobra the blue wire on the mike connector was broken. When it disconnects, no sound. after soldering, everything works fine.
