My Pavilion Won't Recognized My XB3000

Hey I just got a xb 3000 expansion base for my laptop but when I plugged in the power cord and hit the button it doesn't work. I've bought 4 different power cords for it and it just doesn't work. It wouldn't light up or anything. So, I figured maybe it'll work once its connected to my laptop. I have A Dv5000 So I have to use an expansion adapter. when connected the plug from the expansion lights up as if its on but my notebook won't recognize it nor does any of the external features work. The funtionality I get from it is the blue light from the port 3 plug.....Please Help...I would hate it if i just wasted so much money on this...

SOURCE: Hp Xb3000 notebook expansion base

your laptop docking bay has quite a simple circuit, inside it is just connecting extenal base socket to connections to laptop.
All you have to do is rebuild connection using solderer and replacement cables.
Use a tester to find out what cable is not working. You put tester extremities on the two sides of the cable, if it returns infinite impadance, then contact is faulty, rebuild contact with a piece of wiring.

as the posters said, you can move any working HDD or SSD
be it old PATA or new SATA cables, using and adaptor.
google that see 1million examples.
to any PC, and backup data.
i reading your manual online, remove the hdd, carrier.
as it tell you on page 5.7
it shows the OLD OLD PATA cable.
now most PC made have no such port now
so we buy a HDD enclosure, and it convertes, PATA to USB
and now you can plug it in to any PC mADe and use it.

#1 is old PATA, (parallel interface from dark ages of PC)#2 is power

Dear conniejo10,
Since your expansion base setup sucesfuly, all you have to do is try to reconfigure your display properties, this is HOW:

Right Click On your Desktop>Choose PROPERTIES on contect menu>

Choose The SETTING tabs, Choose your additional Screen to come on, (it should be position on the '2' Screen when you click on it, the you adjust the resolution by sliding the display control or try to click the ADVANCE/SETTING buton the choose the ADAPTER tabs, the click the LIST ALL MODE button the you choose which resolution that fit your need and match the color mode (better to set to TRUE COLOR).
Then You just hit the apply button. Some hardware need to reboot but some don't.

You should see the two display are now come on at the same time as if you plug the AV out cable in on you expantion base or your Note book.

Good Luck!

Best Regards,
