The inside of the unit is dust free.

  • bose802 Sep 30, 2008

Blue power light flashes till bulb warms up, and shows a blue screen. I can't bring up any other screens, when I shut the unit off, the blue power light blinks till cool down, and the unit turns off. The bulb and temp light come on for a breif second when you turn the unit on, but it has always done that.

  • bose802 Sep 30, 2008

The owners manual says this is normal operation, the power light will blink 12-15 seconds as the bulb warms up.

I have tried leaving it unplugged for a week, still no success on reseting it.

Hi,

Often a "blue screen" is an indication of the absence of an usable video signal similar to mute for audio. Frozen/no controls after power up as an indicator of logic problem/controller problem. Think of it as like a computer, will boot but hang and then the BSOD (blue screen of death). Initially, pls check all your signal source cables, try switching them around, remove the battery of the remote, see if any buttons in the front/side panel control are stuck.

This then would translate to either a hardware or firmware problem. Since you have tried a "reset" and the system still hangs, then it is most likely a hardware problem.

This of course would require a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Try to pull the power plug for about a couple of minutes and after that turn it on. see also the settings of your tv and manual of it. if all suggestions here didnt fix your problem then you might send it to repair service. hope that helps!

The STANDBY light will flash if an issue is detected within the
television. This can sometimes be resolved by simply following the
steps below to reset the television.

    1. Turn off the television. IMPORTANT: For
a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes
after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before
      continuing with the following steps.

    2. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.

    3. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.

    4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. NOTE: If
the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove
it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into
the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the
power strip or surge protector and not the television.

    5. Turn on the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps, service is required. Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.

Flashes of blue light are fault indications. From the number of flashes occurs at one time switch on, you can get an idea about the faulty section circuit board inside. If you wish to get details about these blinks, check this link.

Picture intermittently goes dim.

How many hours on the lamp timer?  If 10,000 or more the lamp is approaching end of life and should be replaced.  Lamp will dim when approaching end of life rather than just go out.

Try removing the back of the set and vacuum out the inside. It should only be a few screws and may even have little arrows pointing at them. Be sure to unplug the set first.
