Same thing here, it keeps rebooting, sometimes it starts up and freezes when done. Sometimes there is a weird tone and freezes aswell. and there is also the time that the device starts playing normal and then makes strange noises during play

I have had my unit replaced more than 4 times now. I know it is happening with more than one unit because I always make sure the serial# is different. One of the units lasted me a good 5-6 months, but then out of no where, it started doing it again. The other units only last about a day or two. I have gotten to the point where I was blamming the store where I bought it and the installer they where using. Poor guys, they are just installers. What do they, know right!?

Well, as you can imagine, I have decided to join in on the quest for solutions. YES, once again! My supposably "new unit" that the store manager aka Joe Smuck, said had been exchanged by Pioneer, has again failed. And yes it has only been a week. Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't a new unit have the free MSN trial for you to register and use? The darn thing shows as "Expired" in the registration section. "New"? I dont think so! Refurbished? May be. "Used"? Definately! I do not even believe that the store actually shipped my last unit to Pioneer, yet made me wait more than two months with out a simple phone call to let me know the so called replacement was in. I had to call them.

Well ladies and gents, wish me luck. It is time to begin a dispute with Pioneer. It's been a year almost and cant seem to enjoy the $1,100 I was charged for a piece of shoe model that had all great expectations. Regardless of who's fault it is, I am going to request my full refund. I am going to have to go through BAR, Consumer Affairs and possibly small claims court if I have to. Anyone, in?

I am on UNIT number 3. I have a car I only drive in summer. I have been driving my car on warm days since March 1st. I was literally on my way to shop for headunits when I notice a song played ALL the way thru. Now I can't get it to reboot :)
No, idea on the problem.

Doesnt let me get directions

Let's try something, no guarantee, but let's try and manually reboot it. I do this once a month to clean up memory clutter and it's like flushing system. To Manually reboot this model, turn unit off like normal. Then when turning on, keep button down as it fires up, DO NOT release on button, keep it down until all fires up and even about 10 seconds passed, then let go. This reboots it and cleans up a lot of ****. Thanks Mike. Please if this helps, please give me 4 thumbs up, to help me and others. if that dont work, turn it off again fully charge it then reboot it manually again. This should do it!

I have a pioneer avic-f900bt and it keep turning off. it powers up for a couple of seconds and then it shuts off what could that be please help me.

I appear to have the same issue with mine. I purchased mine from Audio Itch in Tampa, Fl in December of 2008 and had them install it with an amp and speakers. Worked fine for almost exactly a year. Upon starting up my car, it powered up and gave the system powering up notice, then went blank. Rebooting with the small restart pinhole button sometimes works, but most of the time it will start powering up again, then shut off????

Pioneer f900 keeps rebooting, restarting every couple of minutes I have exactely the same problem in the UK, pioneer are claiming they have had no issues like this. The retailer are saying if i don't...

It sounds like it needs to be grounded a little bit better. I had that problem with mine and when I grounded it to the Battery it is fine now. Hope it helps you

Randomly shuts off and reboots

The F700BT has a couple of versions of this problem.

The most common is corrupt GPS data files. At there is a solution for this.

Another cause is a badly or not grounded handbrake cable.

The most severe form is a hardware death which requires the unit to be returned to Pioneer.

Agreed - this is not the best Double DIN navi on the market; mainly due to software issues.

For those who would like to see the unit behave differently, take a look at Leetloader on the AVIC411 website.

Magellan GPS Pioneer will not hold onto satellite signal

I had the same problem. Found this link

As suggested at the end of the above thread I left my unit outside for a couple of hours and it suddenly sprang into life. Now it reliably gets a fix in 2 to 3 minutes when I switch it on.

My theory is that because it is only a 2 channel unit it takes hours to acquire a fix when the memory is blank.

The manual says it will keep it's memory for a month without batteries.

So if you leave the batteries out for more than a month, or move it more than 250 miles and then switch it on expect it to take a while to first fix.

Otherwise it's a nice little unit.
