No power even plugged into outlet
Hi,
I understand that the Windows is not loading on your computer. It may
happen due improper shutdown of the computer or any files corrupted.
Please try the steps below to resolve the issue:
1. Keep on tapping F2 key on your computer keyboard as soon as you hit the power button.
2. Then press F9 key, press "Y" to confirm and then Press "F10" and press "Y" to confirm, the computer will restart.
It should take care of the issue, however, if the issue still persists, then follow the below mentioned steps:
You can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow
the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power
button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e
Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore
and follow onscreen instruction. NOTE: This will erase all the data on the computer.
You can also create a set to Recovery disk from the recovery partition, to do so
Start Menu> All Programs> Acer erecovery management> Click
Create Factory Default Disk, if you receive any error code or unable to
burn the disk, please contact Acer Technical support at 1 800 816 2237
and order for an Recovery Disk.
Thanks and regards,
Jitha
Check to see if there is a problem with the DC Power Jack. If the answer is no, then suspect the power sensor chipset on the motherboard.
The DC Power Jack is the jack on the laptop where you plug the AC adapter (Charger) into.
If it is an Acer Aspire 5720 series of Notebook PC, this is an example of the DC Power Jack not installed,
http://www.laptoppowerjacks.co.uk/category-1/Acer36.html
Click on the photo to enlarge.
The Yellow rectangle is a side view of the DC Power Jack itself. The Yellow part you see if plastic.
It is partially surrounded by a metal case.
Where the AC adapter plugs in is a metal pin in the center (Positive connection), and a cylindrical metal shell which surrounds it. (Negative connection)
Remove ALL power. Remove the AC adapter if installed, and the Battery.
Use a non metal instrument, and see if you can wiggle the Center Pin around.
See if the outside metal shell moves.
Any perceptible movement is TOO much.
A replacement DC Power Jack is called for.
Also,...you can see in the photo that the DC Power Jack has a cable coming from it, and a plug connector on the end of the cable.
See if this connector has come loose. (Service Manual)
You may also want to perform a continuity test of the Center Pin to contact in the connector at the end of the cable.
Same for the Outside Metal Shell.
See if electricity is going through the wires in the cable.
If not you have a bad DC Power Jack.
No to the above for all that is listed?
Suspect the power sensor chipset on the motherboard.
( Chip and Chipset are slang terms for I.C.
Integrated Circuit,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_Circuit )
This chipset senses when the Battery needs a trickle charge, or a full charge, or no charge at all.
Also senses when the laptop is just using AC adapter power, and not the Battery.
Repair for this is to replace the motherboard.

Go to the heading that begins with - Aspire 1200.
Go down to the 8th line in this 'paragraph', and across to 5720 (In blue)
Click on 5720.
