Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines
You need a agitator dog clutch kit
ring whirlpool customer line and find out your nearest service agent
then pop in to their workshop and ask for the kit, they maybe have to order it...
they shold be able to order what you want if they are a half decent agent
the company i work for in nsw would do that anyway.

You may not need an entire agitator. The small internal components that help drive the agitator do wear out and can easily be replaced. More commonly, the agitator dogs are the cause of an agitator not spinning properly. Yes, there is such a thing. The following link explains how to replace them:
If you go to searspartsdirect.com and type your model number as "LSQ8000JQ1", you can find an excellent exploded view drawing of the agitator and internal components under the "Agitator, Basket and Tub" heading. The agitator dogs are listed as item number 10. I would recommend ordering them as item number 9 which includes ALL the internal cam drive components for the upper portion of the agitator. I would also recommend you order item 22 which a space thruster for the bottom portion of the agitator. This also wears out and can cause slipping. The total cost is about $17 and a little elbow grease. If you still wish to order the whole agitator assembly, order it as item number 20. This includes ALL the parts. The cost is about $43. The choice is yours. The cost of the repair is still rather inexpensive either way.
I hope you find this information helpful. If you require additional assistance please post back and let me know.
PS The agitators on some of these older models frequently stick. Namely, the lower flange portion. It may take some effort to get it to come of the center post. One recommendation that I know of that can make this easier, is to take an old dryer belt or fan belt, fold it in half so you have two loops. Take each loop and place it under the flange of the agitator on either side. Using the folded part of the belt as a handle, pull straight up.
