Whenever we had this problem we needed to prime the pump. Turn the machine on and wait for the coffee light to come on. Then push the coffee button and turn the steamer on wide open until water comes through the coffee outlet. I hope that helps. The user manual can be downloaded from the saeco site.
You might have too much pressure in the filter basket. Try tamping less or using coarser ground coffee and see if that helps, but it may also be a problem with the pressurized portafilter mechanism (the spring-loaded device under the filter basket). If this is the problem, I would recommend taking the portafilter apart to clean it, in case it is clogged and creating too much backpressure. Remove the 3 screws from the bottom and disassemble -- take care not to lose any of the little parts! Good luck.

he pump presses hot water through the grind not steam.
if the coffee is hot and hot water is dispensed, your line are clocked.
descale the machine as directed.
if coffee is cold the heat element is toasted. very unlikely though, since the machine will not dispens coffee, pump running if correct temperature is not reached.
Hi Have you tried to descale your machine. Remember to use the correct descaling powder and make sure that it is totally dissolved before running the descale program. In the menu, make sure that your water hardness is set on 4. descale more often than not enough.
try inserting the frother in hot water its probably block and for our water everytime you whant steam open vale boiler start to boil water let the water drip into the tray wait untill steam come out pierre
Solution nr one cold be the machine ran out of water and the circuit need to be filled up again.
This is the procedure to do that
Fill up your water tank
Open the steam knob na push the coffe button...in that way the water will be forced to go to the steamer. If you have water in the steamer like you asking for hot water....go to the next step
Close the steam knob and at that point you will hear a different noise and the watewr should be able to go direct into the boiler and start dripping like it was before.
if you don`t have hot water coming oput from the steamer....the problem is before the boiler and could be a clog on the silicon tube or the water pump is loosing friction..
