Hi, How do I get a:\ prompt on Gateway to format the hard drive?
A: drive represents your floppy disk drive. Most Floppy drives are 3.5" 1.44m. In order to get this to appear, you need to make a bootable diskette and when the system boots, enter the system setup and set The Removable drive A: as the the first boot drive. Place the floppy in your drive and restart the machine and it will boot to drive a:. Make sure when you create the bootable floppy, you include the Format command on it as well. Once it boots to the A: drive type A:>format c: /s. This will format the c drive and add the system files to it.:
