Re: getting a:\ to format on my gateway
A: drive represents your floppy disk drive. Most Floppy drives are 3.5" 1.44m. In order to get this to appear, you need to make a bootable diskette and when the system boots, enter the system setup and set The Removable drive A: as the the first boot drive. Place the floppy in your drive and restart the machineand it will boot to drive a:. Make sure when you create the bootable floppy, you include the Format command on it as well. Once it boots to the A: drive type A:>format c: /s. This will format the c drive and add the system files to it.:

Im using Foxconn 45CMX motherboard desktop. Early it had sound and lastweek I formated the machine, and I install the motherboad drivers from the driver CD too. But sond is not working. I would like to know ahy is that?
Gateway are most likely wrong. These Gateway cp's usually have a motherboard failure which stops the cpu socket working, replacing the motherboard is a far cheaper option than buying a new pc, restore windows using my rstore disk which uses your registered version of XP. You could put the hdd in a dell computer, set the jumper omn the back to secondary master or slave of either the primary master ( C:\) or the secondary master. Then copy the files you wnt to an external source or the dell pc.
sounds more like a power supply issue as these are both powered directly by the power supply. check your power cables inside the case and make sure you didnt bump them or leave them disconnected when you installed the harddrive.
