The DC Jack is the socket into which the power cable plugs into your notebook. If it has come loose the the solder points connecting the jack to the motherboard have broken contact and that is why the notebook is not charging. A loose DC jack is not suitable for DIY repair unless you are experienced in internal notebook repairs and have all the right equipment. The only way to get this fault repaired is for a professional notebook repair technician to completely disassemble the notebook and then either re-solder the original jack back into place or install and solder in a new replacement jack before reassembling the notebook. Because of the skill and time it takes to disassemble repair and reassemble a notebook, repairing a loose DC jack can be expensive, but if you look around you should be able to find an experienced notebook repair center that will do it for $50-$75 and give you a warranty as well. A DC jack often become loose if it is allowed to directly bear the deadweight of the heavy AC/DC Adapter on the power cable or the cable catches on something wile connected to the notebook. the AC/DC Adapter should lie full weight on the floor during charging. If the cable is not long enough for the heavy AC/DC Adapter to reach the floor, then it should be lifted it up and placed on the desk or table beside the notebook. Any cable length problems should be solved by using a surge-protected power extension cable. Also, a notebook should never be carried around when its power cable is attached to it.

You will need to take the laptop to a qualified service shop to have it repaired. Usually, the charging port is held onto the mainboard by small solder connections. If the charging port is loose, then these solders have likely been broken. You can try to fix it yourself, but you wil have to disassemble the laptop and re-solder the charging port back in place. If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, then you should take it to a service shop for repair.
The hard way is to seek out the location of loose connection and then soldering it out. Many electricians will be able to help you out.
Temporary solution is bending the cable or squeezing it with prongs and all, but as I said, they are just temporary and you'll have to keep bothering with it again and again.
So if don't want to get into that hassle, I recommend getting a new charger.
Check if the led indicator is on, when you connect your adapter to power outlet. It may simply be loose connection between the adapter and connecting cord.
If possible, borrow adapter of same make and model from someone (maybe a friend who owns the same laptop) to ensure, that the port is not damaged.
If the port is all good, I suggest you get your adapter replaced, as repairing it is not worth the hassle.
The best way to figure out if it is the charger or the port is to plug it into your laptop and giggle it. If it moves alot the port probably needs to be re-attached to the motherboard with a soldering iron. If it doesn't move very much then you probably need to replace the charger. Hope this helps.
Try taking the battery out.
unplug the power adapter, and replug the power adapter but leave the battery out.
Turn on the laptop, if it powers on plug the battery back in while it's on.
If it doesn't then it could be something with the power adapter or maybe the port is loose on the laptop that it's not charging the battery.
How old is your acer? Sometimes after a while the battery will pack up and will not charge. You may have problems with your switch. You have to press and hold for a few seconds. Repeat it for few times. It will switch on. Mine does. My battery is flat and I have to hold for sometime before it starts! You can buy a power pack from Maplin, which you can charge and connect it to your acer when you need to use where there is no electricity. It is the same size as your battery but you have to connect it externally via your USB port.
1. Actually the problem is not with the charger / adapter!
2. The plug-in port / jack of the laptop has become loose.
3. Don't try to work out the charging by adjusting the adapter plug with different angles. It will just damage the plug-in port (the wire inside the port will become loose and unaligned)!
4. Contact the Acer authorised service center for repair / replacement of that plug-in port / jack in the laptop! It'll just cost some bucks!
NO!! bad idea, mine locked up, then i forgot my charger, battery died and stayed dead for a day or 2 then when i charged it again the touch pad was fine, all you have to do is reset your laptop, by removing the battery for a little bit, not sure how long is really nessicary but 1 hr should def. do it! hope its not too late!
