Question about Biostar K8M800 Micro AM2 Motherboard

Pc will not boot

Get one long beep every 3 seconds or so, but system just hangs with no display or hd activity - beep code says dram not detected, but 1G ddr2 is installed. It worked originally, but I installed a stick of ddr ram by mistake and now even with the correct ddr2 it still will not detect

Make sure the ram is seated properly and in the slots correctly. If you are using more than one chip, use only one to start and then add any others yoiu may have. I think you will find a ram slot is craked or the chip is inserted backwards. You really cannot damage a M/B by adding DDR instead of DDR2. It really just about the bus path and bus speed. Double check our work.

Hello,
here is a list of beep code for Award bios chip, which is the one present on you memory card:

repeated beeps - DRAM error
repeated short beeps - Power error
Repeated high & low beeps - Processor is damaged/Overheated

1 short - System boot successfull
2 short - CMOS setting error
1 long 1 short - DRAM or M/B error
1 long 2 short - Monitor or display card error
1 long 3 short - Keyboard error
1 long 9 short - BIOS ROM error

I don't remember the speed of the repeted beeps for the award bios.
But in your case if this is not a DRAM issue, you might try to check if the beeping remain the same once the cmos battery removed (the flat batterie that looks taken out of a watch).
If so this means that it needs to be replaced.

Hi I am working on a abit A 17 mother board it was taken apart by my nephew. I think I have every thing back togather, but when I turn it on it beeps and shows code 92,well I think thats what the l e d box...

The fault could be the cpu, wrong type of ram, a faulty ram module
or a fault in the mainboard.
Check all the settings in the manual and the bios aswell.

Here is a list of beep codes:
Basic Beep Codes for ABIT AWARD BIOS Motherboards

  1. No beep at all - this means your motherboard is dead, either due to a defective or underpowered power supply, poorly seated CPU or RAM, or a dead-on-arrival board
  2. One beep - board is working fine
  3. One long beep then machine shuts down - faulty, improperly installed or missing CPU

According to manual my PC wont boot now due to DRAM not detected


First I would carfully clean both the memory sockets and memory module contacts. Then inspect both the memory socket and module contacts for signes of corrosion.

If all is good try one module at a time in each socket. One is sure to work, even both, but not to gether. Ageing can cause the modules to run at slightly different speeds and cause such problems.

You can always test your memory modules in a friends computer?

Abit av8 bios post codes 8.3 - 8.6 - 9.c What is failing on boot ? I get one long beep followed by 4 short beeps. I have swapped video cards and reflashed the bios with no help. If I reboot 2 or 3...


I still did not find beep code that match your problem..

Anyways here are the common beep codes for your motherboard.. it might help you too.
1. No beep - no reaction, the mother board is dead, power supply problem, processor and or ram problem.
2. 1beep - board is working fine.
3. One long beep then it shuts down - cpu problem, your processor is not working or missing.
4. 1short beep - system boots normally
5. 2short beeps - CMOS setting error.
6. 1long 1short beep - dram error
7. 1long 2 short beep - video card or monitor not connected
8. 1long 3 short beep - keyboard error.
9. 1long 9short beep - ROM error
10. Long beep - memory card is missing or not connected
11. Short beep - power supply error
12 Four beeps - there is no fan detected on Fan1 or Fan2 header. make sure to attach or reset CMOS bios to factory setting.

I am getting three short beeps while booting

Gigabyte GA-945P-S3 short beep codes on cold boot. Tried reseating RAM, didn't help. system runs fine after beeping stops

Go to page 71 & you'll see bios beep codes for your board: AWARD BIOS Beep Codes 1 short: System boots successfully 2 short: CMOS setting error 1 long 1 short: DRAM or M/B error 1 long 2 short: Monitor or display card error 1 long 3 short: Keyboard error 1 long 9 short: BIOS ROM error Continuous long beeps: DRAM error Continuous short beeps: Power error As you can see there isn't a code for three short beeps. When you boot your system try to pause your boot up screen. See if the bios is reporting the correct total of memory in your system. 4 seconds long beep


I think that either you have a bad power supply or it is not connected properly. I suppose it could also not be supplying enough power.

Try disconnecting all of the connections to the Motherboard and reconnecting them. Make sure they seat properly. Try a new power supply. You can get a good one from Newegg.com
