Question about Rival CF250 Deep Fryer

No heat I plug the unit in properly, the red light comes on, but no heat. Do you think it is the heating element in the oil resovoir or the base unit that the heating element connects to in the bottow of the housing? Can these parts be purchased, or should I just buy a new fryer?

We had this problem too. We unplugged the unit, used a knife to open the contacts at the bottom of the unit, used the tip of a knife to scrape the contacts clean and then pried the contact upward, turned the kettle over and cleaned the bottom of that contact with a knife..and now it works.

On my unit with the same problem it is the element contact located under the oil pan. The contacts obviously began arcing due to corosion or poor contct causing deteriotion of the contact points. I am trying to find the necessary replacement part. It isnt hard to replace but finding the part may be.

Will not power on, powers off, will not heat Pwr light out or goes out.

Like most of the problems listed on FixYa about this Deep Fryer ours worked fine the last time we used it, but we could not get the power light to come on again. I found that there is s SAFETY Micro-switch on the heating element control unit. This switch prevents the heating element from being turned on when it is not in the Fryer Pan. The accuator lever for the switch is located under the guide slides on the heating element control unit. It is a metal lever which is moved as you mount the heating element control unit on the fryer pan. You have to look closely under one of the guide ledges on the heating control unit to see it . The problem is that over time the adjustment of the lever changes as it flexes under use. I simply readjusted the lever by forming it with a pair of long-nosed pliers. CAUTION !!!!!!! You can bend the lever so far that the switch is closed all the time defeating the Safety Switch and create a hazard in that the unit will heat as soon as you plug it in whether inserted in the Fryer Pan or lying out on any surface. This might burn someone or cause a fire. Good Luck

How do I turn on?

I just tested a Eurodib Model SFE01860-120 that would not turn on.

If you have added oil and plugged it in and pressed the on/off switch but the light does not come on, you have to rotate the thermostat control to the desired oil heating temperature. The red light will then come on and it should start to heat. If not, then the high limit safety cut off switch has tripped. Check the black screw button on the back.
Using a larger flat blade screw driver or your hand, unscrew the cover counter clockwise and push the little pink (red?) rod back in all the way. Replace the cover of the limit switch and all should be good to go. If not, then there must be loose wires inside. The high limit switch could have tripped if the fryer was turned on without oil for any length of time, which would cause the heater element to get hot really fast. Not a good idea.
Hope this helps

It will not turn on

Hi Woodman22191,
I suggest that you do a couple of visual inspections first before doing anything drastic. Here's a list of things that you should check :
- Is the magnetic cord assembly properly attached to fryer socket ? - Is the electrical cord assembly plugged into electrical outlet? - Is the Power ON/OFF Switch is set to ON? - Is the Heating Element Assembly correctly assembled? Make sure Heating Element Assembly is properly installed on base. - Are you using too much or too little oil in the pot? Make sure that you use the recommended amount of oil in the oil pot.
If these things above does not fix the problem, you may need to Reset the Fryer. - Press Reset on Heating Element/Control Panel by inserting a paper clip or any small pointed object into the opening labeled RESET.
I hope this solves the problem. All the best to you. Good luck.

I have a ck20 hobart deep fryer that when plugged in and turned on, lights both lights, but does not heat.I checked both fuses with an ohm meter and they appear to be fine. Can you tell me what the...

The element will show infinite resistence if defective. Overload switch.....Do you mean High Limit T/Stat? Use your ohm meter across terminals- should read closed circuit...0 ohms. If not, push red reset button...if clicks once, is now reset and contactors will close and unit will heat. If always clicks, replace limit t/stat Like wise, check themostat--should click once for heat demand and check cicuit same as limit t/stat. May have wire burned off terminal connector at element.

Light does not come on, nor does it heat up

Some fryers have safety switches on the heating element, this is so they can not be turned on when not properly installed into the unit. Check to see if there are grooves or slots on the side of the fryer which correspond to grooves or slots on heating element. Then slide the heating element into the slots on the fryer.
Safety switch in most cases can not be seen and can not be disengaged by hand. The heating element must be installed properly in order to work. It may be illustrated clearly in the owners manual.
Do not try this with out oil in the Fryer!!

Hi, Its very possible that you have the wrong power to your fryer. I noticed that you said that you tried to plug it in. If it does not seem to fit or if you had to bend anything on the plug to make it fit you need to have an electrician check to make sure you have the correct power to the fryer. The wall outlet will have the power information printed on it. The manual will give you the power requirements. It the plug fits ok, check your breaker for that outlet. Good Luck. If this solution does not rate an (Almost There) Please do not rate.

Thank You,
