I am using this with a stereo.

I would add that initial contact from vocopro was a capacitor was the problem. am hoping I can repair myself with good instructions. thanks

Thanks for the help.. I have hooked it up to my stereo and tested dvds and cds and cd+gs.. all of which play properly, but very, very low volume. I connected to both sets of available audio outputs on the DVX-880pro with the same result, very low sound. One thought from vocopro was a bad capacitor connection. It is not under warranty (bought used) and since I am not uncomfortable around electronics (and have a general knowledge and a good neighbor who can help me if needed) I was hoping someone could tell me where to look and what to do in general to isolate and repair the problem.

I took it apart and see what you mean.. I'll give it a crack but perhaps I am in over my head.. we'll see.. thanks -- the info was helpful and certainly worth the token I had to pay..

    All the best!

The cause might be the Transistor, radio which is present in the circuit, A NPN or PNP transistor which supply the voltage and make it amplified.

Find out the faulty transistor, transistor are Three pin small mostly Black in color item, similar to the Capacitor And then replace it.
For checking you need to have the Multi-meter.

The following website are carrying useful info about transistor:

    1. General instruction

Let me know if you are able to find out the fault in the circuit, othewise I will help you out with more useful information.

Try testing the Transistor with the Digital Multimeter if you can.

It seems its preamplifier is faulty. Mostly repairs are unfortunately not cost effective.

I have 2 problems with my lg hb 966trw: a)

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

No power
  1. Check if the power cord has been properly connected to the power outlet.
  2. Check if the main power has been switched on.
(DVD player's power supply transformer could be burned out)
Screen is "frozen" or completely black, or Power button does not work
  1. Try turning the power off and wait 3 seconds before turning it on again.
  2. Make sure the TV and VCR (if connected) are set to the correct channel or line.
Does not play disc
  1. No disc. - Load a disc into the tray.
  2. Disc has been loaded upside down. Place the disc with the label side up.
  3. Disc region code does not match region code of the player.
  4. Disc type is not the correct type to play.
  5. Disc is damaged or dirty. Clean the disc or try another.
  6. Moisture may be condensed inside the unit. Remove the disc and the leave the power on for one or two hours.
No sound
  1. Check if the TV and Amplifier (if connected) is turned on and set correctly.
  2. Check if the TV, DVD player and Amplifier are connected properly.
  3. Make sure the TV, DVD player and Amplifier volume are not set to Mute.
  4. There will be no sound output during Reverse Play / Pause / Step / Slow / Search.
  5. If the DTS soundtrack is enabled in the DVD Disc Menu, but you are using Stereo Analog audio, the sound will not work. Try switching the soundtrack to Dolby 5.1 or PCM mode in the Disc Menu.
switching regions:
    • 1
Turn on your DVD player.
    • 2
Open the DVD player's main drive, also commonly called the DVD "tray." The region cannot be changed while a DVD is in the machine, so many DVD players require the tray to be open as an extra precaution.
    • 3
Push "Info" or "Setup" on your remote.
    • 4
Use the remote to select the "Region" option as indicated on your TV screen.
    • 5
Select "Region 9" to change the system to multiregion formatting. Regions 1 through 8 represent specific geographic locations and will not allow multiregion playback.

WHARFEDALE DVD 750 - N0 SOUND ON PLAYBACK

Clean the player with a disc cleaner with a drop of the solvent on each brush on the surface of cleaner CD and play it in the player. If sound quality improves then keep running the cleaner disc till its sound becomes ok. If this does not work then then there is problem on the output amplifier circuit which can be checked out by a professional technician.........sodeep

Dvd audio quieter than vcr audio

There may be an audio adjustment in the dvd player that wasenr set up at the factory correctly. depending on how old the unit is I would contact the manufacturer and see if its under the factory warranty as you DO NOT wanna go inside and start turning controls as this will or could throw the entire alighnment out of the dvd player. I(f theres no warrantee then you could ask them if theres an audio output adj and what the pot # was. Or else your gonna need to get a service manual and throw ya back a few bucks. But my guess is that if you bug the service guys enough they will tell you where the adjustment is. Good luck
