Backlight working but Display still blank, what could it be?

If you connect an external monitor to the video port on your laptop, power up the monitor first and then boor up the laptop and the video information will automatically display on the external monitor. This will indicate the on-board video is functioning OK and the problem is the video connection to the LCD screen.
The video connector from the LCD screen may need reconnecting to the motherboard to restore video information on the LCD screen.

Compaq presario v6000. no problems when closing next time I oppened it I got some horrizontal lines on the screen then it went black and now can get nothing. All the lights are working but cant get any...

Hello,

There is a hardware problem with the laptop that is why the screen is black. Take a good look at the screen with light reflected on it, to see if it looks in any way damaged or have some kind of ink on the screen, if you do not see any of the two, then it simply means the module of the laptop is faulty.

The module acts like a flex on the laptop, if the laptoo hits a hard object or falls or have a heavey load placed on it, then, the module can develop some fault.

First, it starts to flicker, then it shows some horizontal lines, then it goes blank once in a while, sometimes it remains stable, and later on, the screen does not come on at all while other parts remain functional.

Try to have a repairman replace the module of the laptop and it will be in good condition once again.

For the main time, you can use a external monitor or a lcd television. To use this, check your lcd television if it has the RGB(PC) port at the back, then you get the cable that connects a CPU to the monitor, and connect it into the printer port on the laptop and connect to the RGB(PC) on the lcd television.

After connecting, your television will serve as the screen. And you will enjoy your laptop from the lcd.

Take care and good luck.

the LCD backlight is not functioning. It could be a high-voltage inverter failure. Have it checked by a competent technician or service center.

HP Pavilion laptop screen has gone black/blank

You can either use an external monitor for working with the laptop or talk to HP for replacement.

The best option is to use external monitor to backup data before sending it to replacement.

Good luck

Trouble starting up laptop

Most portable computers have a monitor loop-through or simultaneous viewing function. Press the FN +F4 function keys on the portable computer to switch the image from the portable screen to the projection screen or to toggle through the following three options:

  1. Liquid Crystal Display (LCD): Output displays only on the portable screen.
  2. Cathode Ray Tube (CRT): Output displays only on the projection screen.
  3. CRT/LCD: Output displays on the portable screen and the projection screen.

My dell inspiron 1000

Can you see the Dell splash screen after turning it on at least? Check first your hard drive by doing diagnostics. Hit F12 for the diagnostics options to test its functionality. If everything passes, then there is still a way to recover the files. Are there any files on your computer that needs to be backed up? You need to consider this before doing the restoration options.
