How to save i tunes to seagate external hard drive

download the iTunes setup program to the hard drive and then copy it to the external drive.

If you want to run it on the external drive, change the default installation folder to one on the external drive.

I bought a seagate external hard drive a week ago @ asked for a free instalation disc to be sent to my home @ it still hasnt arived yet have been on your web site to download your drivers BUT ITS SO...

you don't need drivers for a new hard-drive  but your motherboard may need usb drivers   go to your computers manufacturers website to find drivers.  A new hard-drive needs to be set up  in control panel administrator tools/computer management/disk management  you can try to activate your new drive  then format it  if Vista format in NTFS  if XP either NTFS or the older Fat32   if you can't activate the new drive get Acronis Disk Director from torrents or rapidshare or filetopia etc  if you need remote assistance I am in filetopia in the All Good Things room  I'm The_MacGyver

I have a seagate free agent hard drive. it stands upright. Where you plug the mini usb cable the internal usb plug has snapped.I am looking to replace part number 100453518. I can not find anywhere in...

Unfortuantly, It seems to be you will have to send the drive out fr reapir. Can you backup the data on it another way? I thought before that you broke off the end of the usb cable off in the case, not the port. If you need any help finding where to send it, I am here to help!

Hi there, I have a Seagate 250Gb external Free Agent disk that I want to put in to my laptop computer. Any ideas how to get in to the case without breaking it?

Hi,

I am Satya.

Hope this helps.

You can connect the Seagate 250 Gb external Free Agent disk by using a Usb connector and connect it to the USB port of your Laptop. In this way you can connect the disk to your Laptop computer without breaking it.

Windows will automatically detect the the drive and can be browsed through Windows Explorer as a separate drive.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.

When i connect my seagate via usb nothing comes up on my pc, the light comes on on the external h/d but nothing pops up on the pc? help please i need precious photos on it. thanks

have you try connect your pen drive to the same usb port, is it working?
If Pendrive is working but not the Seagate hardisk. Most propably is your USB power is not enough to support the External Seagate hard disk, you need to supply more power to the Seagate hard disk by using USB Y cable(1 end connect to Seagate hardisk where the other end got 2 USB connector to connect to your PC).

I have seagate free agent 500gb when i plugged it 1st time everything was fine, now windows vista is telling me that cannot recognize it

Power cycle the drive itself; once the interface is reset or the power restored to the external drive, Vista will be happy with it again (I rather expect.) Don't forget to put vibration isolation mounts under your drives if summer construction/excavation is coming.

Reinstall software to use my 160GB freeAgent Go USB

Hi, I am assuming that you are referring to a USB based external hard drive called Free Agent, by Seagate I think.

Which operating system are you using ?

Windows XP has native support for USB, and it should automatically detect the hard drive when you plug it in.
It should NOT require any other software to access the drive.

if not:
1) Check that the HD is powered up
2) Try a different USB cable
3) Try a different USB socket

4) Make sure that the HARD drive is correctly formatted:
i.e. Assuming you are running Windows XP
(Vista should have similar facilities)

Goto to the Control Panel -->
Double click on Administrative Tools
Double click on Computer Management
Look down, under storage,
Click on "Disk Management"
Give it a couple seconds to search for drives,
and to populate the list ...

Check to see if the external disk appears in the list:
It should be partitioned with an EXTENDED partition,
containing a LOGICAL drive, and formatted with NTFS.

If necessary, partition and format the drive, assuming
you have not already done so, and the drive does not
contain any data.

If the drive did previously contain your data, you can
either loose the data and re-format it, or you can hire
a data recovery company to repair the damaged drive.
